The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for a 150 gallon per <br />minute pumper for the Fire Department, such bids to be received September 7, 1977, <br />tabulated and presented to the City Council at its regular September meeting. A motion <br />was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Malone approving the request. <br />The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for duplicating <br />equipment, such bids to be received August 3,.1977, tabulated and presented to the City <br />Council at its regular August meeting. A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch and <br />seconded by Councilman Williams approving the request. The motion carried: 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request by citizens to purchase property owned by the <br />City of Paris on Clement Road. Mr. Red Woodard appeared, stating that he was interested <br />in land adjacent to the Cattlemen's Livestock Commission. City Manager Sweatt recom- <br />mended to the Council that the City not advertise the property. for sale.at this time. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch and seconded by Councilman Fisher denying the <br />request to advertise for bids for the sale of the City property. The motion car- <br />ried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested the Council to authorize the preparation of an ordinance <br />to revise billing dates in the Water and Sewer Department for water and sewer charges. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman . <br />___._......_ -ftl -one, authui- Iz4ng--the- preparatIw -of the- -ordi--nance -to be- . esen-ted- -air. -a future - - - -. -- <br />Council meeting. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Robert Hayter, Hayter Engineering Company, appeared before the Council in behalf <br />of the City of Reno, Texas requesting the City to study the feasibility of the City <br />of Paris to handle the sewer treatment for the City of Reno. Appearing with Mr. <br />Hayter were the mayor and three Councilmen from the City of Reno. <br />Mayor Brunette appointed a committee composed of Councilman Stone, Councilman Wunsch <br />and Councilman Philley to study the request and make recommendations to the Council <br />at a future Council meeting. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the City Council would go into executive session and. <br />the executive session was declared open.. <br />City Attorney Haynes discussed with the Council the claim pending on the ditch situa- <br />tion at Mahaffey Lane and advised the Council of the Lone Star Gas Company filing with <br />the Railroad Commission for rate adjustments. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that the National League of Cities was en- <br />tering suit concerning the federal government's requirements for municipalities to <br />be covered by unemployment compensation insurance and advised that the organization <br />of Nimlo had agreed to enter the suit at an approximate cost of 5� per capita. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the executive session closed and the regular session open. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Wunsch for the City <br />of Paris to reserve the right to appear before the Railroad Commission on matters <br />pertaining to Lone Star Gas Company hearing on gas utility docket GUD No. 500. The <br />motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
