904 <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Council- <br />man Swaim for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Ordinance No. 2314: <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY ADDING <br />ARTICLE IV, WHICH WILL INCLUDE SECTIONS 14 -50 AND 14 -51 TO CHAP- <br />TER 14; PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT'OF-A SOLID UASTE SER- <br />VICE CHARGE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; <br />REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF'ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT <br />HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE'OF APRIL 1, 1977." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Council- <br />man Swaim for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 1 nay. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a report from the committee appointed to study the Texas <br />Power & Light-Company rate increase request: Councilman Hinds, Chairman of the Com- <br />mittee, advised the Council that several questions had been'posed to Texas Power <br />& Light Company, and that Mr: Hardy England, regional manager. of Texas Power P( <br />Light Company, was present_ to answer.those questions. <br />Mr. Hardy England appeared before the Council and answered the several questions <br />posed and made a presentation concerning the rate increase request. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open; and the following persons appeared: <br />Mr. Stan Jenkins; Mrs. Bob Alsobrook, questioning the last rate increase date; <br />Mr. Bill Phillips, requesting the number of-rate increases within the past ten <br />years; Mr. Edward Crook of the Marvin community; Mrs. Larry McGee; Mr. Steve Brown, <br />requesting information on-retained earnings. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing continued to the next regular Council <br />meeting. <br />Resolution No. 1784, ordering'an election to-be held on April 2, 1977, designating <br />the polling places and the election officials, was presented. A motion was made <br />by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Philley for the adoption of the <br />resolution. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
