955 City Manager Sweatt presented an Annexation OrUtnu - ice on property located on Highway 82 West and advised that this was the final step in annexation procedure. Ordinance No. 2323: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 89.61 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10%) OF THE TERRITORY IN- CLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID TERRITORY." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Swaim and seconded by Councilman Hinds for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the rate request of the Texas Power & Light Company. Mr. Mike Malone appeared in opposition to the request. Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing continued to the special Council meeting called for April 25, 1977— Mayor Brunette called for the tabulation of bids received for construction work on the library building. City Manager Sweatt advised that one bid had been received from Western Waterproofing Company, Inc. of Dallas in the amount of $9,380.00 and re- commended its approval. Mayor Brunette advised that a resolution would be presented later in this meeting awarding the bid. Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of an ordinance regarding water and sewer rate charges. Ordinance No. 2324: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 31 -17, 31 -18, 31 -19, and 31 -20 OF SAID CODE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO- VIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE WATER AND SEWER RATES AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH RATES AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE OF APRIL 11, 1977." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Stone for approval of the ordinance. A poll of the Council showed 5 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman Philley and Councilman Fisher voting nay. Resolution No. 1800, authorizing and directing Mayor Brunette to execute on behalf of the City of Paris an agreement between the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the City of Paris for a drainage structure in the vicinity of 5th and 6th Streets S. E. through Missouri Pacific Railroad Company right -of -way, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman Swaim for the adoption of.the resolution.
