955 <br />City Manager Sweatt presented an Annexation OrUtnu - ice on property located on Highway <br />82 West and advised that this was the final step in annexation procedure. Ordinance <br />No. 2323: <br />"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION <br />OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 89.61 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, <br />WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10%) OF THE TERRITORY IN- <br />CLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY <br />LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID <br />TERRITORY." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Swaim and seconded by Councilman Hinds <br />for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the rate request of the Texas <br />Power & Light Company. <br />Mr. Mike Malone appeared in opposition to the request. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing continued to the special Council meeting <br />called for April 25, 1977— <br />Mayor Brunette called for the tabulation of bids received for construction work on <br />the library building. City Manager Sweatt advised that one bid had been received <br />from Western Waterproofing Company, Inc. of Dallas in the amount of $9,380.00 and re- <br />commended its approval. Mayor Brunette advised that a resolution would be presented <br />later in this meeting awarding the bid. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of <br />an ordinance regarding water and sewer rate charges. Ordinance No. 2324: <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING <br />SECTIONS 31 -17, 31 -18, 31 -19, and 31 -20 OF SAID CODE; REPEALING <br />ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO- <br />VIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE WATER AND SEWER RATES AND PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH RATES AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF <br />THIS ORDINANCE OF APRIL 11, 1977." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman <br />Stone for approval of the ordinance. A poll of the Council showed 5 ayes, 2 nays, <br />Councilman Philley and Councilman Fisher voting nay. <br />Resolution No. 1800, authorizing and directing Mayor Brunette to execute on behalf <br />of the City of Paris an agreement between the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the City <br />of Paris for a drainage structure in the vicinity of 5th and 6th Streets S. E. through <br />Missouri Pacific Railroad Company right -of -way, was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman Swaim for the adoption of.the resolution. <br />The motion carried:, 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
