973 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />May 9, 1977 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council was held on May 9, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor <br />James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: <br />George Fisher, Jr., Michael Malone, David Philley, Jimmy Don Stone, Walter F. Wil- <br />liams, and Raymond Wunsch. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attor- <br />ney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Father Samuel Metzgar, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of <br />previous meetings as furnished the members of the Council. There being none, the <br />minutes were approved. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of business would be election of a <br />mayor and mayor pro -tem for the forthcoming year and invited nominations from the <br />Council. .Councilman Wunsch nominated Councilman Brunette and Councilman Malone <br />nominated Councilman Philley. There being no further nominations, Mayor Brunette <br />called for secret ballot. City Clerk Greene read the ballots aloud which showed <br />Councilman Brunette - 5 votes, Councilman Philley - 2 votes, and Councilman Bru- <br />nette was elected mayor. <br />Mayor Brunette announced nominations were open for mayor pro -tem. Councilman Ma- <br />lone nominated Councilman Fisher and Councilman Stone nominated Councilman Williams... <br />There being no further nominations, Mayor Brunette announced that secret ballot <br />would be held. Votes were read aloud by City Clerk Greene, which showed Councilman <br />Williams - 4 votes, Councilman Fisher - 3 votes, and Councilman Williams was elected <br />mayor pro -tem. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the petition of Mrs. George Serum <br />for change in zoning from One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Two - Family Dwelling <br />District on Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, Block 2, Brookside Addition. The Planning <br />and Zoning Commission had voted to recommend approval of the request. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Gyles Norwood appeared in <br />behalf of Mrs. Serur and stated that a duplex structure was proposed for the pro- <br />perty. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none-appeared. <br />Ordinance No. 2326: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A TWO- FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT (2F) ON LOTS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, AND 7, BLOCK 2 of BROOK - <br />SIDE ADDITION, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO MRS. GEORGE SERUR, SO <br />AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE - <br />FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 2 (SF -2); AND DESIGNATING THE <br />
