000754 <br />Regular City Council Meeting <br />July 14, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br />Billie Dillard, 762 W. Campbell - she said there was tall grass on the corner of Campbell and <br />7"' Street. <br />Robert Brunson, 4598 Clark Lane - he said he would like for Council to pass the tax freeze <br />ordinance without having an election. <br />Consent Agenda <br />Mayor Freelen inquired if there were any items that Council Members wanted to pull from <br />the Consent Agenda for discussion. Council Member Biard asked that item 7 be pulled out for <br />discussion. <br />7. Deliberate and acceptance of June financial report. <br />Council Member Biard inquired about the residential sanitation expense. Gene Anderson said <br />the City was currently charging $14.00, but that the City should be charging $19.34 according to the <br />full cost accounting method. Council Member Brown wanted to know if the sanitation service paid <br />for itself. Gene Anderson said that it did not. Council Member Biard asked that the $111,000.00 <br />deposit reflected under note #9 be placed in a special line item since it was not revenue, but a <br />guarantee of construction. Mayor Freelen thought that the sanitation department should be reviewed <br />in order to cut costs for the citizens and the City. Council Member Brown said he did not want to <br />have trash pick -up less than twice a week, and that they may need to consider increasing the rate. <br />Council Member McCarthy agreed with Council Member Brown. Council had a brief discussion on <br />the capital improvement funds. Council Member Strathenn wanted to know if the City was going to <br />complete the fiscal year within budget. Gene Anderson said yes. <br />5. Deliberate and act on the approval of minutes from the meetings on June 23, 2008, June 30, <br />2008, and July 7, 2008. <br />6. Receive and deliberate on reports and/or minutes from the following boards, commissions, <br />and committees: <br />a. City Council Task Force on Code Enforcement. (6 -3 -08) <br />b. Lake Pat Mayse Water Study Committee. (5 -29 -08 and 6 -5 -08) <br />C. Paris Public Library. (5- 21 -08) <br />8. RESOLUTION NO. 2008-050: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A TAX SALE DEED TO <br />PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR PROPERTY BEING LOT <br />13 -A, BLOCK 326 LOCATED OFF 34TH ST.
