Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 18, 2015 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:05 p.m. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Fran Neely, Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Mike Pendleton, <br />Rebecca Umphrey, Carol James, and director Priscilla McAnally. Absent was Ann Norment. <br />I. Approval of Minutes: <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as corrected. <br />II. New Business: <br />A. Louise Webb, Clerk III — Louise has been with the library for 35 years. Her duties <br />include raising the flags, customer service, circulation, shelve materials, <br />coordinate reserves, assists with reference (both general and electronic), and <br />opens and closes the library as needed. The board complemented Louise on her <br />excellent ability to help patrons find just the right book. <br />B. Art restoration and appraisal — The John Chisum painting restoration cost will be <br />$5,500 - $6,000. With $15,000 budgeted for restoration, another painting can be <br />restored this year. <br />The art collection has been appraised at $588,750. The Biggers piece appraised at <br />$200,000. The Bywaters panels and the Cisneros illustrations were the next <br />highest appraised pieces. The art collection is insured at the appropriate value. <br />III. Old Business: <br />None <br />IV. Presentations: <br />A. Budget Report: No unusual expenditures for January. <br />B. Statistical Report: Both circulation and library visits increased over last year with <br />a circulation increase of 4.48 %, and library visits increased by 0.82 %. eBook <br />downloads increased from 38 last January to 262 this January. <br />V. Friends of the Library: <br />No report. <br />VI. Director's Remarks: <br />Priscilla brought a report from a meeting she attended at East Texas Lighthouse for <br />the Blind in Tyler. PPL is on the list for a 32" monitor at no cost that will help <br />visually impaired patrons to access the Internet and for other computer use. ETLB <br />
