Paris Public Library Advisory Board Meeting Minutes February 18, 2015 Opening: The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:05 p.m. Present: Board members present were Fran Neely, Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Mike Pendleton, Rebecca Umphrey, Carol James, and director Priscilla McAnally. Absent was Ann Norment. I. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as corrected. II. New Business: A. Louise Webb, Clerk III — Louise has been with the library for 35 years. Her duties include raising the flags, customer service, circulation, shelve materials, coordinate reserves, assists with reference (both general and electronic), and opens and closes the library as needed. The board complemented Louise on her excellent ability to help patrons find just the right book. B. Art restoration and appraisal — The John Chisum painting restoration cost will be $5,500 - $6,000. With $15,000 budgeted for restoration, another painting can be restored this year. The art collection has been appraised at $588,750. The Biggers piece appraised at $200,000. The Bywaters panels and the Cisneros illustrations were the next highest appraised pieces. The art collection is insured at the appropriate value. III. Old Business: None IV. Presentations: A. Budget Report: No unusual expenditures for January. B. Statistical Report: Both circulation and library visits increased over last year with a circulation increase of 4.48 %, and library visits increased by 0.82 %. eBook downloads increased from 38 last January to 262 this January. V. Friends of the Library: No report. VI. Director's Remarks: Priscilla brought a report from a meeting she attended at East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind in Tyler. PPL is on the list for a 32" monitor at no cost that will help visually impaired patrons to access the Internet and for other computer use. ETLB
