MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY JUNE 17, 2015 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair <br />Douglas Cox. <br />A. The following commissioners were present: Chair Douglas Cox, Vice Chair <br />Michael Glatfelter, Cindy Allcorn, Ruth Ann Alsobrook, Sherrie Holbert, and <br />Beatrice Ardila <br />B. Lauri Redus was absent. <br />C. Staff also present: Joey Sleeper, Historic Preservation Officer <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings: <br />A. March 11, 2015 <br />B. April 13, 2015 <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Alsobrook to approve the minutes as submitted <br />and seconded by Commissioner Allcorn. The motion passed 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. Exterior Renovations, 946 S. Main St, Douglas Cox <br />Chair Cox recused himselffrom the item as he is the property owner and applicant. <br />Vice Chair Glatfelter introduced the item and called the applicant, Douglas Cox. Mr. <br />Cox explained that he proposed to remove the existing cement shingle siding from his <br />home and replace it with a cement board siding similar to the "Hardie" brand of <br />products. He also explained that he wanted to replace the existing asphalt roofing with <br />new asphalt shingles and would use pre- approved colors. Motion was made by <br />Commissioner Alsobrook and seconded by Commissioner Allcorn to approve the item <br />as submitted. The motion carried 5-0. <br />Vice Chair Glatfelter then called for a motion to bring Mr. Cox back into the meeting. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Alsobrook and seconded by Commissioner <br />Allcorn to bring him back in. The Motion carried 5-0. <br />B. New Youth Ministries Building, First United Methodist Church <br />Chair Cox introduced the item and called the applicant, Paul Denney. Mr. Denney <br />explained the project included renovating the existing building and new construction to <br />add on to the south of the existing building. He continued that the brick veneer would <br />be removed from the existing building, and a new exterior insulation and finish system <br />would be installed to complement the stucco material on the adjacent children's <br />
