R <br />SPECIAL WORK SESSION MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />August 28, 2006 <br />000144 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a special work session at 6:00 P. M. <br />Monday, August 28, 2006, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: Richard Manning <br />Council Members: Tim Ray; Curtis Fendley; Mary Ann <br />Fisher, Mayor Pro Tem; Kevin Gray; Jesse <br />James Freelen; and Don Wilson <br />City Staff: Tony N. Williams, City Manager; John <br />Lestock, Assistant City Attorney; and <br />Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />1. Open City Council Special Work Session. <br />Following the regular meeting, Mayor Manning called the special work session to <br />order at 7:40 p.m. <br />2. Budget Workshop - Discuss City Manager's 2006 -2007 Budget. <br />Tony informed the City Council that the cost to the City to increase none civil service <br />employees' longevity pay from $3.00 to $4.00 per month will annually be $25,011.00. <br />3. Consideration of amendments to the City Manager's proposed budget. <br />Council reviewed budgets for the following departments: City Manager, City Clerk, <br />City Attorney, Municipal Court Clerk, City Clerk, Finance, Police Department, and <br />Community Development. <br />Council Member Ray asked for information with regard to the possibility of <br />exemptions for homesteads, seniors, and the disabled. He also requested information <br />regarding travel reimbursement charges in comparison to the State guidelines. <br />Mayor Manning requested information as to how many cell phones the city has and <br />the incurred costs. <br />Council Member Gray asked for information reflecting employee raises for this year. <br />
