762 <br />of a Fire Department entrance examination and this examination will be held <br />Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at 6:00 P. M., in the ballroom of the J. R. McLemore <br />Student Union Building at Paris Jr. College, Paris, Texas. City Manager Malone said <br />that application for testing will be accepted until Friday, January 21, 2000, no <br />application will be accepted after 5:00 P. M., January 21, 2000, two formal <br />identifications are required from persons that apply, a photo identification card and <br />a social security card is required. The qualifications are as follows: <br />1. Be a least 18 years of age and under 36. <br />2. Applicant must be able to read and write the English language. <br />3. Applicants must meet all legal requirements necessary to become eligible <br />for future certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. This <br />includes providing evidence of good moral character, formal interview, and <br />further physical and physical agility testing to ensure job performance ability. <br />4. Applicants who are a veteran of any branch of the United States Armed <br />Services are eligible for preference points provided they show proof of a <br />honorable discharge prior to application deadline and have served on active <br />duty for at least 180 days exclusive of any training time. <br />Applications and full information packets may be obtained at the ire Chief's Office, <br />150 S. E. First Street, Paris, Texas; 8:00 A. M. - 5:00 P. M., Monday through Friday. <br />Tutoring for applicants will be provided on the following dates at the location shown <br />as follows: <br />Tuesday, January 18, 2000, 6:00 P. M. Fire Station No. 1 Training Room, 1444 North <br />Main Street, Paris, Texas. <br />Tuesday, January 20, 2000, 6:00 P. M. Fire Station No.1 Training Room, 1444 North <br />Main Street, Paris, Texas. <br />City Manager Malone said that the eligibility list created by this examination will be <br />in effect for a period of twelve months from the date of the examination, unless the <br />list is exhausted prior to that time. <br />There being no further business, a motion was made by Councilman Pfiester, <br />seconded by Councilman Manning, to adjourn the meeting. <br />
