• <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on bids received <br />at a public bid opening for the construction of Fire Station No. 2 and Fire <br />Station No. 4., and the following bids were presented: <br />Piazza Construction <br />K.W. Construction <br />Charlie Clark Construction <br />K.W. Construction <br />Fire Station #2 <br />$604,500.00 <br />$675,000.00 <br />$ 690,000.00 <br />Fire Station #4 <br />$652,500.00 <br />$720,000.00 <br />$726,00000 <br />City Manager Malone pointed out that the low bid was from Piazza <br />Construction Company for both stations in the amount of $1,257,000.00 and <br />the available funding for the construction of these facilities is $1,162,000.00. <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that the options would be to <br />award the bid to the low bidder and do a general contract and amend the <br />City's budget towards the end of the last quarter and try and find funds to <br />make up the difference, or the City Council could reject all bids. City <br />Manager Malone said it is the recommendation of city staff to reject all bids <br />and revise the contract documents and the subcontracts and authorize the <br />City Engineer's office to administer the project as Construction Manager <br />and bid out all of the individual components of the project. <br />Mr. Chip Piazza of Piazza Construction Company came forward discussing <br />his bid with the City Council verses the Construction Manager type project, <br />and the possibility of re- bidding the project. <br />After discussing the bids with City Engineer, Earl Smith, a motion was made <br />by Councilman Pfiester to reject all bids and authorize city staff to seek new <br />bids as a City- managed project, and to complete the project as soon as <br />possible. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gray and carried 4 ayes, <br />2 nays, Mayor Neeley and Mayor Pro Tem Fisher voting no. <br />Resolution No. 2000 -009, accepting the bids of Quick & E -Z Lube for <br />furnishing of labor and materials and performing all work required for <br />servicing City of Paris vehicles conditioned upon said contractor meeting all <br />of the terms and specifications included in the bid documents, and <br />authorizing and directing the Mayor, Charles H. Neeley, to execute, on <br />behalf of the City of Paris the Vehicle Maintenance Agreement with Quick & <br />E -Z Lube, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman McWaters, <br />seconded by Councilman Pfiester for approval of the resolution. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
