ordinance of TXU Electric Company for action on tariffs filed by the company <br />requesting revision to twenty -seven (27) of it retail rates /riders to modify, <br />close, or delete certain existing tariffs in order to facilitate the transition to <br />a competitive retail market pursuant to Senate Bill 7. The council must <br />consider action on one of three ordinances proposals as follows: <br />i. Consider an ordinance suspending the proposed effective date of the <br />proposed revision to certain tariffs of TXU Electric Company and providing <br />other findings related thereto; <br />ii. Consider an ordinance approving revised rate schedules for TXU Electric <br />Company, providing an effective date therefor, and making other findings <br />and provisions related to the subject; <br />iii. Consider an ordinance referring the matter of proposed tariff and rate <br />revisions by TXU Electric Company to the Public Utilities Commission for <br />final action. <br />City Attorney Schenk advised the City Council that this is an attempt to bind <br />the legislature to broaden the competitive market retail electric service. <br />City Attorney Schenk said as part of that existing retail suppliers are being <br />asked to modify their tariffs or rate riders to remove certain services that <br />could be competitive in the future. City Attorney Schenk said it was his <br />recommendation that the City Council consider and adopt the ordinance <br />which would suspend the actual implementation of these proposals for a <br />ninety (90) day review period. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2000 -010 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, SUSPENDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF TXU ELECTRIC'S <br />PROPOSED TARIFF REVISIONS TO PERMIT THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF <br />CITIES SERVED BY TXU ELECTRIC TIME TO STUDY AND MAKE <br />RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE PROPOSED CHANGES, MAKING <br />OTHER FINDING AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WAS PRESENTED. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Fisher, seconded by <br />Councilman Pfiester, for adoption of the ordinance.
