• ,
•
has extended drainage pipe located on the east side of the Santa Fe Depot,
and as you know, there is a basement at the Depot which water has been
pumped out of the basement that goes down the drainage -way, and that is
in with the Heritage Park, which will eventually be parking and part of the
park in that area, and that is the reason for extending the drainage pipe
further south out past the Depot building.
City Manager Malone announced that Dr. Hayden has his Heritage Center
open, and if anyone has an opportunity to, or wishes to have an opportunity,
he would be happy to put them in contact with Dr. Hayden. City Manager
Malone said this is a very beautiful structure that Dr. Hayden has renovated
and it is his understanding that there is work about to be underway on the
Lamar County Historical Society Museum Building that is a part of that
complex.
City Manager Malone advised the City Council that the City of Paris has
received a grant for over $800,000.00, which is also a TXDOT Enhancement
Grant to replace all of the sidewalks around the square and fountain, to
install street lighting and landscaping.
City Manager Malone said for about twenty years the City of Paris has been
involved in various grant programs, and we have the Home Buyers
Assistance Program Grant, which is the second grant for this program and
has helped more than sixty people secure home ownership by loaning them
$5,000.00 as a down payment to be paid back after their first mortgage is
paid off.
City Manager Malone said the City has had some Owner Occupied
Rehabilitation Programs, and will be applying for another grant next month
to do rehab or build new homes for low and moderate income citizens within
the city. He told the City Council that the current grant should be finished
within the next sixty days. City Manager Malone said with this grant money,
there will have been seven new homes built and rehabilitation of
approximately ten other homes under that grant.
City Manager Malone advised the City Council that the Housing
Infrastructure Grant is the one that has been discussed in recent meetings
and he was expecting that a subdivision be constructed this summer. There
will be 38 houses built in the $60,000.00 range for certain income level
