320 <br />of Stephanie Harris by the City Attorney as Assistant City Attorney /Municipal Court <br />Prosecutor. <br />Lisa Wright, Legal Assistant, speaking for City Attorney Foster, advised the Council <br />that they had been presented a copy of a letter that Mr. Foster addressed to Ms. <br />Stephanie Harris outlining the basic job requirements, the job description, and the <br />compensation for an Assistant City Attorney who would take care of the duties of <br />the Municipal Court Prosecutor. Three resumes were received and a panel of five <br />people 'were assembled who conducted the interviews. Ms. Harris was <br />recommended to be hired for this part time position and Mr. Foster is seeking <br />approval on this appointment. Ms. Wright introduced Ms. Harris to the City Council. <br />Councilman Clifford pointed out that the Municipal Court cases have increased over <br />the last 5 to 10 years and in looking at the County Courthouse in County Court and <br />J.P. Court, they have basically a full time Prosecutor. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Thomas, seconded by <br />Councilman Clifford, approving the appointment of Stephanie Harris as Assistant <br />City Attorney /Municipal Court Prosecutor. The motion carried 7 yes, 0 Nays. <br />Ms. Harris came forward expressing her appreciation for the opportunity to work for <br />the City of Paris and said she was looking forward to working in Municipal Court <br />with the Police Officers and Mr. Foster. Ms. Harris said she would be starting in <br />mid - March. <br />Mayor Neeley called for consideration of and action on authorizing the preparation <br />of an ordinance amending Section 12 -1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Paris establishing the Fire Department personnel as funded in the 1998 -1999 budget. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Thomas, <br />authorizing the preparation of an ordinance amending Section 12 -1 of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of Paris establishing the Fire Department personnel as <br />funded in the 1998 -1999 budget. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Neeley called for consideration of and action on authorizing the preparation <br />of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris by revising <br />Chapter 2, Section VII thereof to provide for a system of records retention, retrieval, <br />and destruction that is in compliance with the guideline established by the Texas <br />State Library and Archives Commission. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Gray, <br />authorizing the preparation of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the <br />
