950 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 16, 1998 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in Special Session, Monday, February <br />16, 1998, 6:00 P. M., City Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. Mayor <br />Eric S. Clifford called the meeting to order with the following Council Members <br />present: Charles Fulbright, Alan R. Boyd, Jerry W. Thomas, Charlie Neeley, and <br />Millie McDonald. City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. <br />Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham were also present. <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on a resolution <br />appointing Kevin Gray to fill the unexpired term of Thetis Elder as council <br />person for District No. II. <br />Resolution No. 97 -026, Appointing Kevin Gray to serve the unexpired term of <br />Thetis Elder, which ends May 7, 1998, as a member of the City Council of the <br />City of Paris for District No. 2. A motion was made by Councilman Boyd for <br />approval of the resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. ' <br />RES0L'— ION NO. 98 -026 <br />WHEREAS, there exists a vacancy on the membership of the City Council of the City of <br />Paris due to the resignation of Thetis Elder, and it is necessary that her successor be timely <br />appointed due to the urgency of City business requiring Council action; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, Eric S. Clifford, does hereby recommend the <br />appointment of Kevin Gray, a person possessing all of the qualifications enumerated in Section 17 _ <br />of the Charter of the City of Paris and who is a bona fide resident of District 2 and of the City of <br />Paris, to serve the unexpired term of Thetis Elder, which ends May 7, 1998; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that Kevin <br />Gray be, and he is hereby, appointed to serve the unexpired term of Thetis Elder, which ends May <br />7, 1998, as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for District 2. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of February, 1998. <br />Eric S.
