MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 9, 1998 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in Special Session, Monday, February <br />9, 1998, 6:00 P. M., City Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. Mayor <br />Eric S. Clifford called the meeting to order with the following Council Members <br />present: Charles Fulbright, Alan R. Boyd, and Jerry W. Thomas. City Manager, <br />Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie <br />Cunningham was also present. <br />Invocation was given by W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance for the City of <br />Paris. <br />Mayor Clifford asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meetings, there being none, the minutes were approved as presented. <br />City Manager announced that the next item on the agenda was receipt of reports <br />from committees, boards, and commissions, and minutes from the Paris Public <br />Library Advisory Board and Paris Economic Development Corporation had <br />been furnished with no action being required. — <br />Mayor Clifford, as a member of the Annexation Committee, advised the Council <br />that the Committee was to meet today, but was unable to do so, and <br />recommended that Agenda Item No. A. La, consideration of and action on <br />authorizing the preparation of an ordinance revising the Code of Ordinances of <br />the City of Paris by amending Section 21 -5 thereof to permit the discharging of <br />firearms within the City Limits on property zoned Agricultural (A)., and a <br />motion was made by Councilman Thomas, seconded by Councilman Boyd to <br />table action on this item. The motion carried 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Clifford also recommended that Agenda Item No. 3.A.b., consideration <br />of and action on authorizing preparation of an ordinance revising the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of Paris by amending Section 12 -87 thereof to permit <br />burning within the City Limits on property zoned Agricultural (A), be tabled. <br />A motion wa.3 made by Councilman Thomas seconded by Councilman Boyd to <br />table this item. The motion carried 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
