741 <br />NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE <br />CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS ,WATERWORKS <br />AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, <br />SERIES 1997 <br />Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Article 2368a, V.A.T.C.S. and Chapter 252 of the <br />Local Government Code, that the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, intends to consider <br />for passage at a Regular Meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m., on February 10, 1997, in the Council <br />Chambers at City Hall, 135 1 st Street S.E., Paris, Texas, an ordinance authorizing the issuance, sale, <br />and delivery of an issue of bonds to be designated as "City of Paris, Paris, Texas, Waterworks and <br />Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 1997," in a maximum principal amount not to exceed five <br />million dollars ($5,000,000.00), for the purpose of improving and extending the City's waterworks <br />and sewer system, with such bonds to be payable from and secured by a first lien on and pledge of <br />the net revenues of the City's combined waterworks and sewer system, all as will be further <br />described, defined, and provided in the aforesaid ordinance. Said bonds will bear interest at <br />maximum rates not to exceed fifteen percent (15 %) per annum, being the maximum permitted by <br />Article 717k -2, V.A.T.C.S., and will be scheduled to mature serially within a maximum of not to <br />exceed thirty (3 0) years from their date, and will be subject to redemption prior to maturity, and will <br />have such other and further characteristics as will be provided in the aforesaid ordinance, with such <br />bonds being authorized, issued, sold, and delivered pursuant to Articles 1111 through 1118, <br />V.A.T.C.S. <br />Eric S. Clifford, Mayor <br />City Manager Malone advised the Council that the next item on the <br />agenda was appointment of members to the Paris Lamar County Board of <br />Health, and this item had been tabled at the December 9, 1997 meeting, <br />and a motion to bring it from the table would be in order if they wish <br />to consider the item. <br />A motion was made by Councilwoman Elder, seconded by Councilwoman <br />McDonald to bring the above item from the table. The motion carried 5 <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 97 -006, reappointing Dr. Gordon B. Strom, Jr., Mrs. <br />Robert Norment, Rev. Samuel Evans and Dr. Charles Tarvin to serve as <br />members of the Paris -Lamar County Advisory Board of Health for a term <br />of two years beginning January 1, 1997, was presented. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Boyd, seconded by Councilman Fulbright for approval <br />of the resolution. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
