State and NCIC inquiries may be performed on the vehicle license and the suspect
by the dispatcher using a function key and does not require transferring to a special screen. Any
number of vehicles or suspects can be associated with any incident. The communications interface
to the CAD system further allows each agency to specify the types of inquiries to be performed
for each name or vehicle. For example, both "10 -28" and "10 -29" inquiries are performed from
this single entry if desired.
E -911 - Interfaces to E -911 are provided to both the call receiver and dispatcher station. All
common E -911 interfaces are available and operational. The information from the E -911 is
merged into the primary CAD display or call taker screen. The operator may override any
information which is automatically displayed, but the original data is logged.
CAD OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS
The following section provides a written overview of the system's operation.
Call Taker Function - The CMS software contains a Call Taker Utility designated and
programmed for use by call receivers and desk officers to initiate the call for service in the
system. The software provides the ability to enter information and to transfer this data to the
dispatcher, either as a completed record, or as a partially completed record via a "quick dispatch"
capability. IIelp screens are available to assist the operators with unfamiliar class codes,
locations, and priority information. This utility also contains features which allow inquiries on
calls for service by location, look -up of phone numbers by name and location, and an ability to
review and update previously processed calls with additional information.
Dispatching Function - The system provides the dispatcher with the capability to process calls,
for service directed to him/her by a call receiver, another dispatcher, or to enter new calls for
service acting as a call receiver /dispatcher with the same capabilities available to the dispatcher
as are provided to the call receiver. Calls can also be relayed to the dispatcher from a unit in
the field, through an automated alarm system, from a Mobile Data Terminal /Computer, from the
0
