6'D 7 <br />City Manager Malone called for the tabulations of bids for furnishing <br />and delivery of sixteen rechargeable flashlights for the Paris Police <br />Department and the following bids were presented: <br />Knife Pro Shop $1,560.00 <br />D.P.P.S., Inc $1,322.56 <br />G.T. Distributors (Maglite) $1,240.00 <br />G.T. Distributors (Streamlight) $1,260.00 <br />on the recommendation of the Chief of sPolice, Karl Louis, a motion was <br />made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Hunt to award the bid. <br />to G. T. Distributors for 16 streamlight flashlights in the amount of <br />$1,260.00. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Malone called for the tabulations of bids for furnishing <br />and delivery of three new 1996 police vehicles for the Paris Police <br />Department, and the following bids were presented: <br />Two Full size motor vehicles: <br />Kennedy Ford <br />Arendale Ford <br />$39,299.12 <br />$36,640.00 <br />One (1) Mid size motor vehicle: <br />Lowry Chevrolet $17,126.00 <br />1 Deviation (3.1 engine instead of 3.4 engine) <br />City Manager Malone advised that the recommendation of the Police <br />Chief, Karl Louis, is to purchase the two full size vehicles from <br />Arendale Ford and the one mid- size vehicle from Lowry Chevrolet, and <br />the reason that Arendale Ford was able to make that bid is that they <br />are in the fleet business, and they are able to get a better price than <br />the other dealers in the area. City Manager Malone said the local <br />dealer recognizes the competitive advantage there when they are selling <br />fleet vehicles with fleet packages, and they are getting a better price <br />from the company, but he is willing to service the vehicles. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Boyd, seconded by Councilman Fulbright <br />to purchase the three vehicles as recommended. The motion carried 5 <br />ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Neeley voting nay. <br />City Manager Malone called for the tabulations of bids for furnishing <br />and delivery of five police vehicle video systems for the Paris Police <br />Department, and the following bids were presented: <br />Kustom Electronics <br />Police Video Systems <br />Video Systems Plus <br />$23,420.00 <br />$18,925.00 <br />$15,725.00 <br />City Manager Malone advised that the recommendation of the Police <br />Chief, Karl Louis, is to purchase the Video Cams from Police Video <br />Systems at $18,925.00 as the Video Systems does not meet specifications <br />as it does not have a siren notification sign showing on the tape, <br />which would be over budget by $425.00. <br />
