029 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL April 11, 1994 The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Monday, April 11, 1994, 6:00 P. M., The David Roberts Police and Court Building, 811 Bonham Street, Paris, Texas. Mayor George Fisher called the meeting to order with the following Councilmembers present: Don Shelton, Jim Bell, Millie Ingram McDonald, Wayne Brown, John Bell, and Rondie Williams. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. Invocation was given by Reverend Raymond Armstrong, Minister of McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Mayor Fisher asked if there were any corrections or additions to minutes of previous meetings, and Councilman Jim Bell said the minutes from the previous meeting of Thursday, April 7, 1994 are slightly incorrect in that a motion was made by him that the question of my residency be tabled until the Attorney General's opinion was received. Councilman Jim Bell said that motion was agreed to by Mr. Shelton who seconded it, and he would like the minutes to reflect that tonight based on that tabling, the item should not be on the agenda tonight. Mayor Fisher advised that according to the motion that he asked to be repeated, that is not his understanding of the motion. Mayor Fisher said he asked how long you wanted it to be tabled, and there were no specifics on it. Councilman Jim Bell replied "it is to Mr. Shelton and I" he seconded the motion, and it was until the Attorney General's report is received, now that was not a specific date, but Mr. John Bell, Mr. Shelton and myself voted on that to pass, and believed that was the motion that was made. Councilman Jim Bell made a motion that the minutes be amended to read that item is tabled until the Attorney General's report is received. Mayor Fisher said before he accepted the motion he would like to hear from the City Attorney and /or the City Clerk as to the motion that was made at the April 7, 1994. City Attorney Haynes advised that after the motion was made, he specifically asked the question "is this for a specific time ", the reason he asked the question was because the last time that motion was made it was tabled until that Thursday night meeting, and the answer he got was that it had no specific time. The City Clerk reported that after Mr. Bell made his motion, the City Attorney or Mayor asked for a specific time, and it was to continue the status of his continued service on the City Council, with no time limits.
