The motion carried 5 <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilwoman Ingram, seconded by Councilman <br />Burnett to allow Councilman Bell' to return to the Council meeting. The <br />motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays, and Councilman Bell entered the Council <br />chambers and assumed his seat at the Council table. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Shelton to <br />bring Item No. 6A from the table. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on <br />authorizing preparation of an ordinance abandoning the Old Paris - <br />Clarksville Road from a point approximately 500 feet east of 34th S. E. <br />and Clarksville Street intersection, east to Loop 286 S. E. <br />City Attorney Haynes report that at the direction of the City Council <br />to procure the old park area from the Texas Highway Department, and we <br />are in the process of doing that. <br />City Manager Malone said what we would have to pursue is the <br />right -of -way and the park land separately, and if we were to close that <br />right -or -way then that would become city property, and we may be able <br />to sell some of it, then we would have to pursue the park separately. <br />City Attorney Haynes said that after the last instructions, we have <br />reviewed our actions similar to this, and a few years back the Highway <br />Department approached the City and wanted to give us the West Paris <br />Park at the intersection of 41st S. W. Street, and the Council <br />affirmatively agreed to accept it, but we have as yet to receive the <br />deed to that piece of property. City Attorney Haynes said they were <br />also pursuing it with this one. <br />City Attorney Haynes advised that recently the City has been able to <br />get a description that we feel is close enough to right to work from, <br />and we should be able to describe the property. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bell for preparation of and ordinance <br />to abandon the described right -of -way from a point approximately 500 <br />feet East of 34th S. E. and Clarksville intersection, and abandon to <br />the West boundary line of Lot 17B. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Brown, and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration and action on amending <br />zoning Ordinance No. 1710 changing the zoning from a Neighborhood <br />Service District (NS) and General Retail District (GR) to an <br />appropriate Zoning Classification on Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, Fitzhugh <br />Addition located at 1295 Fitzhugh Avenue belonging to Jesse Hall. <br />City Manager Malone advised that this item had been tabled at the <br />February 4, 1993 Council meeting, and would need a motion to bring from <br />the table should the Council wish to consider this matter. <br />
