Mayor Clifford stated his view that the issue would ultimately be
decided by the Public Utility Commission and urged the Council to adopt
the ordinance as presented.
Councilman Wortham and Councilman Kent questioned why the matter was
before the City Council since they had so little to say about it.
City Manager Malone advised the Council that they had three options on
rate matters which were; to do nothing, table and do a rate study or
approve the request.
After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fendley, seconded by
Councilman Davidson to authorize the preparation of an ordinance
approving the rate schedule and service regulations for Texas Utilities
Electric Company. The motion failed to carry with 3 ayes, and 3 nays.
Councilman Wortham, Councilman Kent, and Councilman Williams voting
nay. Councilman Fendley, Councilman Davidson, and Mayor Clifford
voting for the motion.
There being no further business to consider, the meeting was adjourned.
ERIC S.
