MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 5, 1989 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, January <br />5, 1989, 5:15 P. M., Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. Mayor <br />Eric S. Clifford called the meeting to order with the followin <br />Councilmen present: Curtis Fendley, Marshall Kent, Jr., E. W. (Bill3 <br />Booth, and William E. (Bill) Davidson. Also present was City Manager, <br />Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie <br />Cunningham. <br />Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the <br />Council and presented the minutes of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission's meeting held on January 3, 1989, and attached hereto as <br />part of these minutes as Exhibit A. <br />Mayor Clifford declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />George 0. Fisher for a change in zoning from a General Retail District <br />(GR) to a Commercial District (C) on Lot 13, City Block 222 -A located <br />on the northwest corner of Lamar Avenue and 25th N. E. <br />Mayor Clifford called for proponents to appear, and Brady Fisher <br />appeared before the Council representing his parents, stating the <br />property had been used as a service station. Mr. Fisher advised they <br />have an opportunity to lease the site for used car sales and as the <br />zoning is General Retail, it would have to be changed to a Commercial <br />Zoning, and requested the Council's consideration in the zoning change. <br />Mayor Clifford called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Booth, seconded by Councilman Davidson <br />for approval of the zoning change, and called for the preparation of an <br />Ordinance to be presented at the next regular council meeting. The <br />motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Clifford announced that if there were no objections, the Council <br />would bypass Item No. 4 until later in the meeting. <br />Council Wortham entered the council chamber and assumed his seat at the <br />council table. <br />Mayor Clifford declared the public hearing open to consider a change in <br />zoning from an Agricultural District (A) to a Commercial District (C) <br />on Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11, City Block 315 -A located on the <br />north side of Lamar Avenue East of 46th N. E. <br />Mayor Clifford called for proponents to appear, none appeared. <br />Mayor Clifford called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Fendley, seconded by Councilman Kent <br />approving the zoning change, and called for the preparation of an <br />y + <br />
