RESOLUTION 89 -015- <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, in keeping <br />with its philosophy of serving all of the citizens of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, parks of the City of Paris have heretofore been <br />named after the donor; however, since Johnson Park was named <br />after the street it fronted on there is no impediment to the <br />renaming of the park after a prominent national figure; and, <br />WHEREAS, Martin Luther King, Jr. is recognized as a <br />prominent national figure, and it is therefore fitting and proper <br />to rename Johnson Park, located on Johnson Street between 12th <br />Street N.E. and 15th Street N.E., as Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Park; NOW THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />that Johnson Park, located on Johnson Street between 12th Street <br />N.E. and 15th Street N.E., be renamed Martini Luther King, Jr. <br />Park. <br />Passed and adopted this 13th day of February, 1989. <br />Eric . Y ynes, City ttorney <br />Resolution No. 89 -016 authorizing and directing the Director of <br />Finance, W. E. Anderson to cause to be drawn a City of Paris check in <br />the amount of $1,100.00 payable to the State Department of Highways and <br />Public Transportation and delivered to Mr. Bobby L. Myers, P. E., <br />District Engineer, State Department of Highways and Public <br />Transportation, P.O. Box 250, Paris, Texas, 75461 along with three <br />copies of said agreement executed by the City of Paris for additional <br />right -of -way acquisition on Loop Highway 286 S. W., Southwest of Paris <br />at the Missouri Pacific Railroad Overpass was presented. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Booth, seconded by Councilman Fendley for approval <br />of the Resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
