e# 247 John Buss appeared befpre thf� Council and advised that the Change Order includes suhsti6 tion of roof mounted yard lighting for the pole mounted fixtures that is now in the contract and addition of scum skimmer support for the sedimentation basin and recommended the changes be approved. After discussion, the motion for adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Councilman Bone and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Burnett directed the Council's attention for action on leasing Reese Field to the Red River Valley Fair Association. A motion was made by Councilman Wortham, seconded by Councilman Francis to retain the Baseball Field known as Reese Field and not lease it at this time. The motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. City Manager Doty explained that the Red River Valley Fair Association would keep Reese Field in good shape, and would let others use it. Mr. Doty stated that they would eliminate the bathrooms, remove the chain link fence and use the fence to complete the fencing of the Fair Grounds on Hickory Street. Mayor Burnett called for the tabulations of bids for a Fire Truck and the following bids were presented: Sunfire Apparatus and Equipment Company Total Package Bid $152,000.00 Apparatus Bid 92,652.40 Chassis Bid 38,803.00 Delivery Time 240 - 280 days Koetter Fire Protection Service Company Apparatus $148,974.00 Chassis Bid 126,925.00 Equipment Bid 22,049.00 Delivery Time 225 days Smeal Fire Equipment Company Total Package Bid $134,444.88 Apparatus Bid 69,640.88 Chassis Bid 38,900.00 Equipment Bid 20,904.00 Delivery Time 240 -300 days Total Revised Bid $125,030.38 Steve Burgin, Fire Chief, discussed the purchase of the Fire truck and recommended the bid of Smeal Fire Equipment Company in the amount of $134,444.88. Mr. Burgin stated that the State had recommended that Paris add a pumper for several years and recommended going to option No. 2 which would meet the budgeted amount of $125,000.00. A motion was made by Councilman Folmar to accept the low bid of the Smeal Fire Equipment Company to get within the budget. The motion was seconded by Councilman Hoog and failed with a 4 to 3 vote. Councilman Bone made a motion to allow the Red River Valley Fair Association to remove the chain link fence at Reese Field and complete the fence on Hickory Street. The motion was seconded by Councilman Francis and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Folmar to accept the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission that a recommendation be made to the United States Postal Service that the proposed new Paris Post Office be located within the Main Street Project Area. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Resolution No. 86 -066 appointing David Tompkins as a member of the Building Commission of the City of Paris to serve until his successor is appointed was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Folmar, seconded by Councilman Bone for approval of the Resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
