e# <br />247 <br />John Buss appeared befpre thf� Council and advised that the Change <br />Order includes suhsti6 tion of roof mounted yard lighting for the <br />pole mounted fixtures that is now in the contract and addition of <br />scum skimmer support for the sedimentation basin and recommended the <br />changes be approved. <br />After discussion, the motion for adoption of the Resolution was <br />seconded by Councilman Bone and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett directed the Council's attention for action on leasing <br />Reese Field to the Red River Valley Fair Association. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Wortham, seconded by Councilman Francis to retain <br />the Baseball Field known as Reese Field and not lease it at this <br />time. The motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. <br />City Manager Doty explained that the Red River Valley Fair <br />Association would keep Reese Field in good shape, and would let <br />others use it. Mr. Doty stated that they would eliminate the <br />bathrooms, remove the chain link fence and use the fence to complete <br />the fencing of the Fair Grounds on Hickory Street. <br />Mayor Burnett called for the tabulations of bids for a Fire Truck and <br />the following bids were presented: <br />Sunfire Apparatus and Equipment Company <br />Total Package Bid $152,000.00 <br />Apparatus Bid 92,652.40 <br />Chassis Bid 38,803.00 <br />Delivery Time 240 - 280 days <br />Koetter Fire Protection Service Company <br />Apparatus $148,974.00 <br />Chassis Bid 126,925.00 <br />Equipment Bid 22,049.00 <br />Delivery Time 225 days <br />Smeal Fire Equipment Company <br />Total Package Bid $134,444.88 <br />Apparatus Bid 69,640.88 <br />Chassis Bid 38,900.00 <br />Equipment Bid 20,904.00 <br />Delivery Time 240 -300 days <br />Total Revised Bid $125,030.38 <br />Steve Burgin, Fire Chief, discussed the purchase of the Fire truck <br />and recommended the bid of Smeal Fire Equipment Company in the amount <br />of $134,444.88. Mr. Burgin stated that the State had recommended <br />that Paris add a pumper for several years and recommended going to <br />option No. 2 which would meet the budgeted amount of $125,000.00. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Folmar to accept the low bid of the <br />Smeal Fire Equipment Company to get within the budget. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Hoog and failed with a 4 to 3 vote. <br />Councilman Bone made a motion to allow the Red River Valley Fair <br />Association to remove the chain link fence at Reese Field and <br />complete the fence on Hickory Street. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Francis and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Folmar <br />to accept the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />that a recommendation be made to the United States Postal Service <br />that the proposed new Paris Post Office be located within the Main <br />Street Project Area. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 86 -066 appointing David Tompkins as a member of the <br />Building Commission of the City of Paris to serve until his successor <br />is appointed was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Folmar, <br />seconded by Councilman Bone for approval of the Resolution. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
