{ <br />I <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />JANUARY 7, 1985 <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Paris met in regular session <br />Monday, January 7, 1985 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, <br />Texas with the following members present: <br />, <br />1. Freddy Swaim, Chairman 5. Ronnie Nutt <br />2. Charles Christian 6. Kyle Perry <br />3. Bill Davidson 7. Dorothy Smith <br />4, Bruce McMonigle <br />Also present were Tom Pine, City Engineer and Joe McCollum, Director of <br />Community Development. <br />Chainnan Swaim called the meeting to order <br />1984 were approved as presented. <br />Chairman Swaim declared the public hearing <br />Steelman for a change in zoning from a One <br />(SF -2) to a General Retail District (GR) of <br />Lamar Terrace Addition located on the west <br />150 feet south of Lamar Avenue. <br />and the minutes of December 3, <br />open on the petition of B. Ray <br />Family Dwelling District No. 2 <br />i Lots 13, 15 and 17, Block 2, <br />side of 24th S.E. approximately <br />Mr. Steelman was present and told the Commission of his need to move the <br />building presently occupied by his son's electronic repair shop on Lamar <br />Avenue to this lot on 24th S.E. behind his insurance office building. He <br />stated this would not be a permanent situation and that he planned to <br />construct a new building which would compliment his existing retail and <br />office development. <br />There was no one else present to speak on the matter and the public hearing <br />was closed. <br />Following discussion, a motion was made by Mrs-: Smith, seconded by Mr. <br />McMonigle to recommend approval of the petition. The motion carried 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />Chairman Swaim declared the public hearing open on the petition of William <br />N. Hagood for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 <br />(MF -1) to an Office District (0) on Lot 5, City Block 182 -A located at 164 <br />6th S.E. <br />Mr. Hagood was present and told the Commission he represented the owner of <br />the property and Dr. Marshall Dougherty who proposed to purchase the property. <br />He said that Dr. Dougherty plans a 3,000 sq. ft. clinic and office building <br />for his practice which would replace the present older home on the lot. He <br />pointed out the existing Commercial, retail and office zoning around the lot <br />supports the proposed change. He said a new building is proposed because the <br />repair and maintenance of the existing structure would be too costly. <br />
