RIsSOLUTION NO. 83 -019 <br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters <br />of Wards 4, 5, and 7 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on <br />the 2nd day of April, 1983, for the purpose of voting for <br />and electing the Councilmen from each of said Wards to serve <br />as members of the City Council for the ensuing two (2) <br />years, to -wit: <br />1. Councilman From Ward Four (4) <br />2. Councilman From Ward Five (5) <br />3. Councilman From Warci Seven (7) <br />WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of <br />the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, Paris <br />Division, in Civil Action No.'P- 75 -3 -CA, and as provided in <br />the Charter of_ the City of Paris and the laws of the State <br />oi: Texas wherein they do not conflict with said Order, such <br />election was conducted :,nd held at three (3) specified and <br />designated polling places, that is one polling place in Ward <br />4, 5, and 7 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, <br />WHEREA' , sealed returns of said election, mtic',-- by the <br />duly appointed and designated election officials of and for <br />the three (3) respective voting boxes, have been made to the <br />Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by <br />law, which returns after duc and deliberate review and <br />canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, <br />to-wit: <br />(1) IN WARD FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 14 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD FOUR (4) AS FOLLOWS: <br />Joe Graham <br />Write -In Candidates <br />14 votes; <br />0 votes. <br />(2) IN WARD FIVE (5) A TOTAL OF 81 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD FIVE (5) AS FOLLOWS: <br />Nathan J. Bell <br />John Pierce <br />Write -In Candidates <br />59 votes; <br />21 votes; <br />1 votes. <br />(3) IN WARD SEVEN (7) A TOTAL OF 189 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM 14ARD SEVEN (7) AS FOLLOWS: <br />Oswald Guilliams 28 votes; <br />Jeff Hoog 1.20 votes; <br />Brian Peterson 3 votes; <br />Lorrin Scott 38 _ votes; <br />Write -In Candidates 0 votes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass <br />of the returns of the votes <br />in the three (3) respective <br />voting boxes in such election, <br />it is declared and determined <br />that Joe Graham is the person <br />receiving the highest number <br />of votes of the votes cast at <br />such election for Councilman <br />From Ward Four (4), and is therefore elected to serve as <br />Councilman From Ward Four (4) <br />and as a member of the City <br />Cov.ncil of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; <br />th<:Lt Nathan J. ell i_:, the person receiving the highest <br />nl.1111Ibcr of - votes (-)1'7 the votes <br />cast at such election for <br />Councilman From [,lard F9ve (5) , <br />and is therefore elected to <br />serve as Councilman I'rem Ward <br />Five (5) and as a member of <br />tile City Counci_1 o" the City of Paris for.. the ensuing two <br />( �_) years ; and thy] t_ lc .t z I1100F, <br />is the person receiving the <br />hi!�hest number of v,, t-c s of the <br />votes gist at such election <br />
