MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PARIS COUNCIL <br />August 20, 1981 <br />The special meeting of the City Council, City of Paris, was held Thursday, <br />August 20, 1981, 6 o'clock, p.m. Mayor Burnett called the meeting to order <br />with the following Councilmen present: W. C. Francis, Walter F. Williams, <br />Travis Wortham, Kenneth E. Kohls, Joe Graham and Larry McGee. Also present <br />were City Manager, Robert Sokoll; and City Attorney, T. K. Haynes. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman McGee to <br />accept Bill Booth Motors bid for a 1981 Chrysler LeBaron in the amount of <br />$8,971.40 for the Administrative Department. The motion carried 6 ayes <br />and 1 nay, Councilman Kohls voting nay. This bid had been discussed at the <br />last regular Council meeting August 10, 1981. <br />Fire Chief, Steve Burgin, presented three alternatives for Council review <br />concerning the needed engine replacement for Unit F6: <br />1. Waukesha- Pierce, Irving Texas <br />New short -block assembly $9,984.00 <br />Estimated final cost including <br />other parts, service and labor 3,000.00 <br />Total Estimate $12,984.00 <br />2. Warren Engine Service, Dallas, Texas <br />This company is an industrial engine <br />repair service and can repair our engine, <br />include rebuilding all working parts and <br />accessories. Owner Tom Warren guarantees <br />work and has done work for Plano, Dallas, <br />Ft. Worth and many others. <br />Estimate for full repairs and rebuilding $5- 6,000.00 <br />3. Harold Sales Co., Marrenette, Georgia <br />Used engine $ 2,500.00 <br />Councilman Graham made a motion declaring an emergency and authorized accept- <br />ance of the Warren Engine Service proposal provided the company be proven <br />reputable. The motion was seconded by Councilman Williams and was carried <br />unanimously. <br />Gary Barolet, representing Southwest Sanitation appeared before tree Council <br />to inform them that his company was discontinuing residential garbage and <br />trash service for residential customers effective November 1st. A lengthy <br />discussion was held on this matter. The discussion centered around the idea <br />of the City discontinuing its Sanitation service for residential customers. <br />It was also explained that B &B Equipment would offer its services to fill <br />
