VIP ir <br />µ r <br />319 <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham to table the item. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Councilman Francis made a committee report on charges for out of City Limits <br />Sewer Service, and recommended that the rates remain as currently established. <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Francis to approve <br />the sewer rate report. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr George Morrell, President, Midwest Video Corporation, appeared before the <br />Council and gave a status report of the Company's distribution business in Paris, <br />Texas. Mr. Morrell stated that the number of channels would be expanded in the <br />near future in the current cable network in Paris, and approximately 20 channels <br />would be availabe, but most would be pay channels. <br />Mr. Willard Townsend, Local Manager, Lone Star Gas Company, appeared before the <br />Council and presented a request for a rate increase for the Lone Star Gas Company <br />amounting to approximately 11% increase in revenues. <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the Council suspend the effective date of <br />the proposed rate for 30 to 120 days and adopt a temporary rate Ordinance with <br />the temporary rate becoming effective with the January billing. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Wortham to deny the request. <br />The motion failed 2 ayes, 3 nays. Councilman Williams and Councilman Wortham <br />voting aye. <br />Resolution No. 2127 suspending the proposed rate schedule filed by the Lone <br />Star Gas Company for a period of 120 days for further study and investigation <br />and receipt of evidence in public hearing was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Francis for adoption of the Resolution. <br />The motion carried 3 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman Williams, and Councilman Wortham <br />Voting nay. <br />i <br />
