2f�() <br />Mr. Jess McGee, 1275 22nd N. E. appeared before the Council stating his concern <br />over salaries. Mr. James Holland appeared before the Council stating his concern <br />over paving and water and sewer on 31st Street N. E. north of Pine Mill Road. Mr. <br />Wade Glover appeared before the Council in behalf of Lamar County Youth Services <br />Program stating that he would be requesting funds for the 1982 -83 fiscal year. <br />A Mr. Stoddard appeared before the Council stating that he was not in favor of <br />the warning system to be purchased for the General Fund, but perhaps be an item <br />for future bond issue. Mr. Paul Daniels appeared before the Council in behalf <br />of the Senior Citizens Council for funds from the Revenue Sharing Fund for the <br />Senior Citizens Council. No other citizens appeared and the public hearing was <br />declared closed. I <br />During discussion Councilman Graham stated that he would like to see the secretary <br />for the City Attorney not replaced, the deletion of two patrolman and $50.00 <br />increase over that already planned for Lieutenants, Sergeants and Patrolmen, <br />and Asst. Chief, and also the Emergency Medical Service personnel; and to <br />remove $3,000.00 from the Senior Citizens Center contribution. <br />City Councilman Francis stated that he would like to see the elimination of the <br />early warning system. <br />Councilman Wortham stated that he would like to see the deletion of the alarm <br />system and the cancelling of the two patrolmen in the Police Department. <br />Councilman Williams stated that he would like to see the elimination of the <br />storm sewer on 17th S. E. and was in favor of the warning alert system. <br />Councilman McGee stated that he would like to see the alarm system deleted. <br />Mayor Burnett stated that he would like to see the two dispatchers cut from <br />the Fire Department. <br />After further discussion, Mayor Burnett called for a motion from the Council. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Graham seconded by Councilman McGee to eliminate <br />the secretary of the City Attorney Office. The motion carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, <br />Councilman Williams voting nay. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Graham, seconded by Councilman McGee for the <br />deletion of two patrolmen in the Police Department, and applying an additional <br />$50.00 per month increase to salaries for patrolmen through the Asst. Chief, and <br />all personnel in the Emergency Medical Service. The motion carried 6 ayes 0 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Graham to remove $3,000.00 contribution to the <br />Senior Citizens Center. The motion failed for lack of a second. <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Francis to eliminate <br />the alarm system. The vote showed 3 ayes, 3 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman McGee to accept <br />the budget with the changes as noted in the above motions. The motion carried <br />6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2578 <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE ENSUING FISCAL YEAR, BEGINNING JULY 1, 1981, <br />AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1982, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />APPROPRIATING THE VARIOUS AMOUNTS THEREOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS <br />OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. <br />was presented. The motion was made by Councilman Graham, seconded by Councilman �I <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2098 transfering funds between Departments and the Contingent <br />Appropriation Account was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, <br />seconded by Councilman Graham for adoption of the Resolution. The motion carried <br />6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
