U �J <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />May 12, 1980 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday, <br />May 12, 1980 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order with the <br />following Councilmen present: Travis Wortham, Addie J. Bufford, Billy J. Burnett, <br />Kenneth E. Kohls, W. C. Francis, and Ronald Kyle. Also present were City Manager, <br />R. W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by the Rev. Larry Solice. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the first order of business would be election of <br />a Mayor for the coming year and stated that nominations were in order. Council- <br />man Burnett nominated Councilman Malone for Mayor, and was seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham. There being no other nominations the vote was taken which showed Mayor <br />Malone elected by unanimous vote of the Council. <br />Mayor Malone requested nominations for Mayor Pro tem and Councilman Wortham <br />nominated Councilman Burnett, which was seconded by Councilman Francis. No <br />other nominations were made and Councilman Burnett was elected by unanimous <br />vote of the Council. <br />Mayor Malone asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meetings furnished to the Council members. There being none, the minutes <br />were approved. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the next order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented the final plat of the Springlake Estates Addition <br />as well as exceptions made by the Director of Public Works containing 14 items. <br />Mr. Don Wilson appeared before the Council in behalf of the Developers and explained <br />the exceptions made by the Director of Public Works and stated the Developers will- <br />ingness to post bond for the exceptions in order that the Developers might proceed <br />in the development of lots. <br />Mr. James Holland appeared before the Council stating that he feels that the <br />exceptions should be completed prior to approval of the final plat. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman <br />Kohls approving the final plat subject to the Engineer's exceptions, and the post- <br />ing of bond and consideration of a reasonable amount of time specified for the <br />completion of the exception. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone advised the Council of the request for stop signs at 25th Street S. W. <br />and West Austin Street and further advised that the Traffic Commission had recommended <br />approval. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Kyle <br />authorizing the preparation of an Ordinance for presentation at a future council <br />meeting. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
