t <br />Mayor Malone advised the Council of the recommendation made by the Traffic <br />Commission on a request for a no parking zone on 4th Street S. W. and 6th <br />Street S. W. adjacent to Wise Field, and on the East side of 6th Street S. W. <br />from West Sherman Street tp West Washington Street. After discussion, a motion <br />was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Wortham to table the item <br />and combined with further discussion later in the council meeting. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Newt Davis representing the Tree Committee appeared before the Council and <br />presented a recommended Ordinance regarding trees on private property. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised the Council that the City Engineer and staff had met <br />concerning the liquidated damages assessed to David Buster on the Blake Road <br />Contract and further advised that the staff had recommended $3,600.00 in liquidated <br />damages. City Attorney Haynes advised that the recommendation was in the confines <br />of the contract and that it was in the authority of the City Engineer to settle. <br />Mayor Malone called for tabulations of bids on the final phase of 34th Street N. E. <br />Drainage Project and the following bids were presented: <br />Neuberger, Inc. $ 65,572.90 <br />David Buster Construction Co. $ 78,713.20 <br />Wise Sullivan Construction $128,692.00 <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the low bid of the Neuberger, Inc. Company <br />be approved. <br />Resolution No. 2027 awarding the bid to Neuberger, Inc. for 34th Street N. E. <br />Drainange Project in the amount of $65,572.90 be approved. The motion was made <br />by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman Burnett for adoption of the Resolution. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
