4� <br />Mr. Shelton Jack appeared before the Council requesting thata no burning Ordinance <br />be adopted by the Council. Mr. Jack stated that pollution, danger of fire, among <br />other things, was the cause of his recommendation. Chief Burgin appeared before <br />the Council to discuss the Ordinance. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, <br />seconded by Councilman Williams to table the matter. The motion carried 6 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />Mr. Reaves Hayter, Hayter Engineering, Inc., appeared before the Council stating <br />that the firm had found means to expedite the Infiltration /Inflow Project by four <br />months, and recommended a Step II Grant application from EPA be executed. After <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Kohls <br />authorizing the preparation of an application for a Step II Grant. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the next order of business would be authorization for <br />bids for a new trash truck. Councilman Kohls recommended that the City investigate <br />alternates to our present garbage collection system prior to the purchase of a <br />trash truck. <br />Mayor Malone appointed a committee composed of Councilman Kohls, Councilman <br />Williams, and Councilman Francis to study the collection system. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Wortham to table the authoriza- <br />tion for bids for a trash truck. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for the tabulation of bids for concrete basketball courts at <br />Johnson and Record Parks, and the following bids were presented: <br />Clement Construction Company $9,890.00 <br />Robert Mickens 12,964.80 <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the Clement Construction Company be awarded <br />the bid. <br />Resolution No. 2051 authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract with the Clement <br />Construction Company for concrete basketball courts at Johnson and Record Parks <br />was presented. The motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />y <br />'h . <br />
