Mayor Malone invited the Council's attention to the recommendation made for a <br />Speed Zone on Lamar Ave. 300 feet either side of 31st Street. <br />Mrs. John Boatner appeared before the Council and spoke in favor of the recommendations. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham authorizing the posting of a temporary 30 MPH Speed Zone, 500 feet on each <br />side of the intersection of 31st and Lamar, and authorizing the preparation of an _ <br />Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Further discussion was had concerning a permanent Speed Limit and authorization <br />by the State Highway Department by issuance of a warrant covering the situation. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams ordering <br />the investigation of the Speed Zone by the Chief of Police and the City Engineer. <br />The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone requested the Council's consideration of the recommendation of stop <br />signs at the following locations: 11th N. E. and Pine Bluff (stop north bound <br />on 11th N. E.); 11th N. E. and East Houston (stop south bound on 11th N. E.); <br />Hubbard and 20th S. E. (stop west bound on Hubbard); Sherman and 6th S. E. (stop <br />west bound on Sherman). After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Burnett, <br />seconded by Councilman Williams authorizing the preparation of an Ordinance cover- <br />ing the stop signs. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone requested the Council's attention to the Airport Board's recommendations <br />which were read as follows: <br />"This proposal was that the Airport purchase: <br />(1) 10,000 Gallon Tank $7,950.00 <br />with installation cost @ 6,200.00 <br />(2) Fuel Truck including meter and fuel <br />separator system @ 91000.00 <br />(3) A filter separator system for the <br />storage tank, pump, and miscellaneous <br />cost @ 3,000.00 <br />$26,150.00" <br />Mr. Richard Rex, Chairman of the Airport Board appeared before the Council and <br />discussed the recommendations. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised that only $16,500.00 had been budgeted for the items <br />in question. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded <br />by Councilman Kohls authorizing the advertisment of bids for all items. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on a request of M. J. Mitchell to <br />place a mobile home on Lot 30, City Block 83, located at the corner of 10th N. W. <br />and Shiloh Street. Mr. Mitchell appeared before the Council stating that he was <br />considering purchasing the lot which would be optioned on the approval for a <br />mobile home to be place there on. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and none appeared, and the public <br />hearing was declared closed. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded <br />by Councilman Wortham approving the request. The motion carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, <br />Councilman Kohls voting nay. <br />
