1 <br />x <br />Mayor Malone called for the reading of a previously authorized Ordinance for <br />stop signs at 11th N. E. and Pine Bluff Street. <br />ORDINANCE NO 2529 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE TRAFFIC - <br />CONTROL DEVICE MAP ADOPTED IN PARAGRAPH (b) OF SECTION 29 -80 OF SAID CODE; <br />PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR <br />PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE OF OCTOBER 1, 1980. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for the reading of a previously authorized Ordinance <br />establishing school speed zone on Pine Mill Road in front of the Aikin Elem. <br />School. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2530 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A 20 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN PORTIONS <br />OF PINE MILL ROAD; PROVIDING FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF OCTOBER 1, 1980. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented information on the current radio maintenance <br />contract and recommended James Evans, present contract holder be employed on <br />a part -time basis to handle radio maintenance for the City. After considerable <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Kohls, seconded by Councilman Burnett, <br />to solicit proposals with outside agencies to see what the cost would be to bring <br />the system up to manufacturer's specification, and to request proposals maintain <br />the system. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested authorization to advertise for bids for four <br />pickup. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams approving the request. The motion carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman <br />Kohls voting nay. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested authorization to advertise for bids for a portable <br />welder for the Garage and for a water pump for the Sanitary Landfill. A motion <br />was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Kohls approving the request. <br />The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone invited the Council's attention to the next item on the Agenda <br />calling for Resolutions for appointment to the Traffic Commission, Advisory <br />Board of Health, Parks and Recreation Board, Housing Rehabilitation Review <br />Board, and the Library Advisory Board, and recommended that the Council table <br />appointment to the Traffic Commission and to the Housing Rehabilitation Review <br />Board. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams <br />approving the recommendation of the Mayor. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2054 appointing Richard Bercher as a member of the Advisory <br />Board of Health of the City of Paris and Lamar County to service the unexpired <br />term of John L. Barnett was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, <br />seconded by Councilman Williams for adoption of the Resolution. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
