MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />July 10, 1978 - <br />The Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Patrissvas: held Monday, <br />July 10, 1973 at 7:00 P.M:- Mayor Malone called the meeting to.order with the <br />following Council members present: B. J..Burnett, JimFarris','George Fisher, <br />Jr. and Raymond Wunsch. Staff members present were City.Monager Robert W. <br />Sokoll, City Attorney T. K. Haynes and City-Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Felix Keys of First Presbyterian Church. <br />Mayor Malone asked if there were any corrections to Minutes of previous meetings <br />as furnished to the Council members. There being none the Minutes were approved. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the first order of business would be consideration.v= <br />of recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor'Malone declared the public hearing open on the petition of H. R. Johnson <br />for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a General <br />Retail District on part of Lots 19 and 20, City Block 249 located on the south <br />side of Lamar Avenue approximately 300 feet east of Collegiate Drive. <br />Mayor Malone called for proponents to appear.and Mr. Johnson appeared-in his <br />behalf stating that he wished to change the zoning of property to retail in <br />order to dispose of it. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and Dr. Bill Felty, 2885 Hubbard, <br />appeared and spoke against the change in zoning stating that the retail zoning <br />would back up against residential property on Hubbard Street. <br />Councilman Philiey entered the Council Chambers and assumed his chair at the <br />Council table. <br />Dr. Felty presented a petition containing 45 names of residents in the neighborhood <br />affected. Dr. Felty stated that he would like to see General Retail'Zoning no <br />closer than 250 feet to the property line of the residential area. <br />Mayor Malone declared-the public hearing closed and advised the Coun81 —that <br />because of the action of the Planning and Zoning Commission which was to deny <br />the request that the vote of the Council would require a 75% majority. <br />The ordinance ordering the zoning was presented by the City Attorney. <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED <br />BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL <br />DISTRICT (GR) ON PART OF LOTS 20 AND 21, CITY BLOCK 249, ON <br />
