JOHNSON, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE- FAMILY D�IWELLING DISTRICT <br />NO. 2 (SF -2); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL <br />RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) SO ESTABLISHED." <br />Mayor Malone called for a motion for or against the ordinance and no motion was <br />made and the Mayor declared the ordinance failing and the zoning denied. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on the petition of W. D. McGuinness <br />and Morgan Johnson for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. <br />2 to a General Retail District on Lots 18A and 19, City Block 249 located on the <br />southeast corner of Lamar Avenue and Collegiate Drive. <br />Mayor Malone called for proponents to appear and Mr. W. D. McGuiness appeared <br />stating that he does not think that the Planning and Zoning Commission took into <br />consideration the Retail businesses in the area and further stated he felt that <br />the property one block west of Collegiate Drive and behind the Piggly Wiggly <br />grocery store had not been devalued. <br />Mrs. Joe Early appeared before the Council in behalf of the petition stating that <br />Paris needs to grow and that the property needs to be General Retail. Mrs. Early <br />stated she was speaking for Mrs. Springer also in favor of the petition. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and Dr. Bill Felty, 2885 Hubbard, <br />appeared against the petition and stated that the petition that he presented at <br />the H. R. Johnson hearing in this meeting would apply to this change also and <br />that the reasons presented at the Johnson hearing would also apply to this property. <br />Mr. Jimmy Myrick, 2865 Hubbard, appeared before the Council opposing the zoning <br />and stating he did not want the hazard of Commercial property at his back door. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing closed and an ordinance ordering the <br />zoning change was presented. <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED <br />BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL <br />DISTRICT (GR) ON LOTS 18A AND 19, CITY BLOCK 249, ON PROPERTY <br />BELONGING TO MORGAN JOHNSON AND W.
