277 <br />refurbishing of the system and one for an annual maintenance contract. Motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next item would be to consider authorizing the sale of <br />a tract of land between the Police Station and the:Coca Cola Plant on Bonham Street. <br />�- Councilman Wunsch chairman of the committee appointed to consider this matter <br />reported saying that they had met with City Staff and recommend that the property <br />be advertised for sale and that three appraisals be taken to establish the value <br />of the property. <br />City Attorney Haynes stated to the Council that a safeguard should be placed on <br />this request and other similar requests to insure that the City will receive a <br />legimate bid on property after going through all the trouble to advertise for bids. <br />He suggested that the orginator of a request for sale of property deposit a sub- <br />stantial amount of cash money, similar to earnest money, as a guarantee that they <br />will submit a bid of fair market value for the property. <br />this was discussed by the Council and following discussion Councilman Farris made <br />a motion to authorize advertising for bids on the property on Bonham Street with <br />a minimum bid price determined by the City Manager and to require the iniating <br />party to deposit an amount determined by the City Manager in escrow. Councilman <br />Burnett seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next item was to consider authorizing the We of a <br />.562'acre tract located on F.M. 79. <br />City Manager Sokoll reported to the Council that Mr. James Thompson had requested <br />the sale of this tract to him because a portion of his house is located upon it. <br />It was determined that Mr. Thompson bought the property in this condition. <br />Following discussion Councilman Farris made a motion to advertise for bids on the <br />sale of this property with a minimum bid price established by the City Manager <br />and that an amount to be determined by the City Manager be deposited as escrow by <br />the iniator of the request. Councilman Fisher seconded the motion which carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested that the Council authorize bids for construction of <br />two new tennis courts at Culbertson Park. He stated this was a budgeted item and <br />recommended authorization. Council discussed the .location of the courts and <br />following discussion Councilman Nunsch made a motion to authorize the taking of <br />bids for the construction. Councilman Fisher seconded the motion which carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next item would be the awarding of several bids for <br />construction and equipment. City Manager Sokoll reviewed the bids for 1250 L.F. <br />of 6" PVC water line and appurtenances to be installed on Booth Place, Booth Alley <br />and 7th N.E. He recommended award of the work to B &B Construction Co. in the <br />amount of $14,039.38. <br />
