2_ 79 <br />Awarding of equipment bids was taken as one item and City Manager Sokoll gave the <br />following recommendations. Award of bid for 1979 3/4 ton pickup for the Fire <br />Department to Lowry Chevrolet in the amount of $7,24,9.56. Award of bid for skid <br />tank for the Fire Department to Fire Appliance Co. of Texas in the amount of <br />$4,976.70. Award of bid for Rescue Tool for Fire Department to Fire Fox Co. in <br />the amount of $5,256.00. Award of bid for a 1979 truck chassis and cab for the <br />Sanitation Department to Morphew Buick -GMC in the amount of $9,784.69. A motion <br />was made by Councilman Wunsch to award the equipment bids as recommended by the <br />City Manager. Councilman Williams seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next item would be awarding of bids on City Owned sur- <br />plus equipment. City Manager Sokoll recommended awarding of bids on surplus pro- <br />perty as follows: Lot 1 - 1969 Ford pickup to John H. Cunningham in the amount of <br />$278.00; Lot 2 - 1965 Ford truck with packer body to John Cunningham in the amount <br />of $378.00; Lot 3 - 1971 Ford Dump Truck to Tullie Burns in'the amount of $695.00; <br />Lot 4 - 1974 Ford Dump truck to Zoel Ramsey in the amount of $1,076.00; Lot 5 - <br />1952 Chevrolet flat bed truck to Zoel Ramsey in the amount of $345.00; Lot 6 - <br />1969 Ford pickup to Fred Hodges in the amount of $326.00; Lot 7 - 1971 GMC pickup <br />to Fred Hodges in the amount of $351.00; Lot 8 - a barber green ditch digger to <br />J. G. Hodges in the amount of $252.50: Mr. Sokoll then said that bids on Lots 9, <br />10, 11, 12 and 13 which consist of office machinery were not acceptable and rec- <br />ommended they not be awarded. Councilman Farris made a motion to award the bids, <br />according to the City Manager's recommendations. Councilman Fisher seconded thE` <br />motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next order of business would be to consider adopting a <br />paving accessment ordinance which states City's intent to make street improvements <br />on 7th N.E., Booth Alley and Booth Place and to authorize advertisement for bids. <br />Ordinance No. 2403 <br />"AN ORDIN!',NCE DECLARING THE NECESSITY FOR AND ORDERING THE IMPPOVE- <br />MENT OF CERTAIN STREETS AND PORTIONS THEREOF IN THE CITY OF PARIS; <br />ADOPTING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SUCH WORK; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR SUCH WORK; DIRECTING THE <br />PREPARATION OF FINAL ESTIMATES; INVOKING THE PROCEDURE PROVIDED BY <br />ARTICLE 1105b, VERNON'S ANNOTATED TEXAS STATUTES, AND THE CHARTER <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, ADOPTING SUCH STATUTE; DETER- <br />MINING THAT A PART OF THE COSTS SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CITY OF PARIS <br />AND THE BALANCE THEREOF SHALL BE BORNE BY THE ABUTTING PROPERTY AND <br />THE OWNERS THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND THE TIME, TERMS <br />AND CONDITIONS OF PAYMENTS AND DEFAULTS OF SUCH ASSESSMENTS AND <br />PRESCRIBING THE RATE OF INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE FIXING <br />OF A LIEN TO SECURE THE PAYMENT OF SUCH ASSESSMENTS, ON 7TH STREET, <br />N.E., FROM THE NORTH BOUNDARY LINE OF EAST CHERRY STREET. NORTHERLY <br />600 FEET TO ITS DEADENDS BOOTH ALLEY, FROM THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE <br />OF 7TH STREET, N.E., 411.5 FEET TO THE WEST BOUNDARY LINE OF 8TH <br />STREET, N.E.; AND BOOTH PLACE, FROM THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF 7TH <br />STREET, N.E., 157 FEET TO ITS DEADEND; AND DIRECTING THE CITY <br />CLERK TO CAUSE A NOTICE OF THE ENACTMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE TO BE <br />FILED IN THE MORTGAGE OR DEED OF TRUST RECORDS OF LAMAR COUNTY, <br />TEXAS." <br />was presented. Councilman Williams made a motion for adoption of the ordinance. <br />Councilman Farris seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 1882 authorizing.new, safety lighting agreement with State Department <br />of Highways and Public Transportation,to�alloW for lighting of U. S..Highway 82 and <br />Stillhouse Road was presented. Councilman Wunsch made a motion to approve the <br />resolution, Councilman Fisher seconded which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
