Prior to the public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant, Director of Community Development, Joe McCollum appeared before the Council stating that the public hearing had been held on September 8, 1978 in the REA Building at 7:00 P.M. on the proposed Community Development Block Grant which was to be $92,807.00 for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1978 out of a total of $750,000.00 grant over a two year period. Mr. McCollum recommended the followin, program for the 1978 Community Development Block Grant, 1. Acquisition of Facility for Senior Citizen Center: 2. Rehabilitation of privately owned houses: (approximately 6 units) 3.. Water Improvements: 8th N. W. from Campbell 9th N. W. from Campbell Long Street from 7th N. 4. Street Improvements: 8th N. W. from Campbell 9th N. W. from Campbell Long Street from 7th N. 5. Planning: 6. Administration: 7. Contingencies: Total . to Garrett to Garrett W. to 8th N. W. to Garrett to Garrett W. to 8th N. W. $25,000..00 24,000.00 16,200.00. 19,000.00 1.,000.00 3,000.00 4,607.00 $92,807.00 Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on the 1978 Community Development Block Grant and called for any participation from the audience. Mr. Gary O'Connor, representing the Lamar County Human Resources Council, spoke in behalf of the Senior Citizen Center and the rehabilitation of houses. Mr. Jeff Preston, 1008 17th N. E. appeared before the Council requesting that consideration be given to water mains and street improvements on 17th Street N. E. North of Tudor Street. Mr. Preston stated that he would request immediate consideration of the problem. No one else appeared before the Council and Mayor Malone declared the public hearing closed. Resolution No. 1886 authorizing and directing the City Manager to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for Community Development Block Grant project in the amount of $92,806.70 was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Farris, seconded by Councilman Williams that the Resolution be approved and that the application include the recommended program as presented by the Director of Community Development, Joe McCollum. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
