Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open to consider the report and <br />recommendations of the Building Hazard Inspection Committee regarding <br />condemnation of sub- standard buildings. Fire Marshal, Steve Burgin appeared <br />before the Council and reviewed with the Council on individual hazards and <br />the Building Hazard Inspection Committee recommendations. <br />r Mr. E. A. Landers appeared before the Council in behalf of property located <br />at 137 W. Sherman Street, and requested that the building remain as is for <br />storage. Fire Marshal Burgin stated that the building was in a congested <br />area and that fire exposure hazards do exist. Mr. John Ramsey appeared be- <br />fore the Council in behalf of property located at 640 25th N. E. and requested <br />that he be given six months in order to rehabilitate the property. <br />Fire Marshal Burgin presented a letter from J. R. Hickman in regard to property <br />at 411 W. Sherman Street requesting the Council to review the act of the <br />committee in recommending the demolition of the property. <br />Fire Marshal Burgin reviewed each piece of property that had been considered <br />by the Building Hazard Inspection Committee. <br />Ordinance No. 2407 <br />AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING A HEARING ON PROPERTIES LOCATED IN THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, BELONGING TO VARIOUS OWNERS, AND AN <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL FINDING THE MATERIALS REMAINING <br />IN THE PREMISES TO CONSTITUTE A NUISANCE AND TO BE A FIRE <br />HAZARD TO LIFE AND PROPERTY AND A HAZARD TO THE LIFE AND WEL- <br />FARE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA, AND ORDERING SAID RUBBISH, <br />LUMBER AND REFUSE FROM THE STRUCTURES TO BE TORN DOWN AND <br />REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES, IN ORDER TO ABATE SUCH NUISANCE. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman <br />Burnett for adoption of the Ordinance. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested authorization to advertise for bids for four <br />automobiles for the Police Department, one automobile in the Administrative <br />Department, one automobile in the Fire Department, and five pickup trucks. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, seconded by Councilman Fisher approv- <br />ing the request. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested the Council to refer to the Residential Garbage <br />Study which had been enclosed with the agenda for study by the City Council. <br />The City Manager requested further guideance from the Council due to the <br />complexity and nature of the problem. Mayor Malone appointed a Committee <br />composed of Mayor Malone, Councilman Williams, and Councilman Wunsch to <br />study the situation. Mayor Malone announced that the Council would go into <br />executive session. The regular session was declared closed and Mayor Malone <br />declared the executive session open, and discussion was had on legal, personnel, <br />and real estate matters. <br />Mayor Malone declared the executive session closed, and the regular meeting <br />open. <br />
