Mayor Malone called for the receipt of bids for a Chip Spreader for the Street <br />Department, and the following bids were presented: <br />Conlye Lott <br />Plains Machinery <br />$32,987.60 (Gas) <br />$35,998.43 (Diesel) <br />$30,156.00 (Gas) <br />$34,008.00 (Diesel) <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the bid of the Plains Machinery Company in <br />the amount of $34,008.00 for a diesel type engine be awarded. A motion was made <br />by Councilman Wunsch, seconded by Councilman Burnett approving the recommendation <br />of the City Manager. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for tabulation of bids for Ditching Machine for the Water <br />Department and the following bids were presented: <br />Ditch Witch <br />Peerless Equipment <br />Sherck Equipment <br />$17,335.27 (Gas) <br />$20,095.00 (Diesel) <br />$16,305.55 (Gas) <br />$18,290.30 (Diesel) <br />$14,531.00 (Gas Only) <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the bid of the Peerless Equipment.Company <br />in the amount of $18,290.30 for a Diesel type engine be awarded. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Farris, seconded by Councilman Williams approving the <br />recommendation of the City Manager. Motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. Councilman <br />Burnett voting a nay. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested that the Council consider approving Engineering plans <br />of northwest and northeast drainage projects and consider the authorization to <br />begin obtaining the right of way easements of said project, and - consider authoriz- <br />ing the negotiations for cost of new drainage structures from the railroads. <br />After discussion a motion was made by Councilman Farris, seconded by Councilman <br />Fisher approving_the recommendations of the City-Manager. Motion carried 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll- :.requested authorization to hire the Engineering Firm of <br />Lockwood, Andrews t'Newnam, Inc. to:begin the engineering study of the South- <br />east drainage project. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Wunsch, seconded by Councilman Burnett authorizing the employment of the <br />engineering Firm Of Lockwood, Andrews, & Newnam, Inc. for the southeast drainage <br />project. Motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. Mayor Malone voting nay, stating that <br />he felt that the engineering services would be a duplication of efforts thdt <br />had already been done in the master plan. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented the following Resolution authorizing condemnation <br />procedures for Blake RodA.right of way. <br />Resolution No. 1900 authorizing the City Attorney Haynes to proceed to condemn <br />certain property to be used for Blake Road improvement project from the east <br />edge of pavement at Fitzhugh Ave. approximately 3500 feet easterly to the'west <br />edge of the pavement in 20th Street N. E. was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Williams seconded by Councilman Fisher approving the Resolution: <br />Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nay. <br />
