146 <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for the con -. <br />struction of curb and - gutter on East Cherry Street, such bids to be received at <br />10:00 A. M. on November 6, 1974 and presented to the City Council at its Regular <br />Meeting on November 11, 1974. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and <br />seconded by Councilman Moore that the request of the City Manager be approved. <br />The motion carried: 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR J. Greene, City Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />October 30, 1974 - <br />The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris on October 30, 1974 <br />at 7:00 P. M. was called to order by Mayor J. M. Brunette,.with the following <br />Councilmen present: Doyle Whitaker, Joe King, Brad Hutchison, 0. L. Rainey, <br />W. M. (Dub) Moore, and Sam M. Stone. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, <br />City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the purpose of the Special Meeting was to canvass <br />the returns of the election held on October 22, 1974 on the proposition of a <br />$3,000.00 exemption for persons 65 years of age or older. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the canvass of the returns, and returns from the 4 <br />wards were presented and opened by the mayor. <br />After canvass of the returns, Resolution No. 1645, declaring the results of the <br />_ election held on October 22, 1974 and showing that the proposition for the <br />exemption passed, with 1264 votes for, and 459 votes against, with a total of <br />1723 votes cast, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Stone and se- <br />conded by Councilman King that the Resolution be adopted. The motion carried: <br />6 ayes, 0 nays_ <br />
