Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker called property on the north side of pany. r 177 for the reading of an annexation ordinance; annexing Loop 286, presently occupied by Campbell Soup Com- "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 219.733 ACRES, MORE OR ;LESS, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10 %) OF.THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS," Mr. Robert McWhirter appeared before the Council, representing Campbell Soup Com- pany, stating that they felt full operation meant production, sales and shipment of product as well as installation of major machinery, which had not been accom- plished during the-year ending December 31, 1964. Mr. McWhirter stated that the major machinery had not been installed until 1965._ Mr. McWhirter stated that he represented the company in stating that they feel that the commitment made when locating in Paris, Texas would not be honored if.annexation was made in 1974. Mr. Mark Evans, Assistant Plant Manager, was present for the discussion. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded,by Councilman Hutchison to table the ordinance until. the next regular meeting. The motion car - ried: 5 ayes, 1 abstaining, Councilman Rainey abstaining. Mr. David Denney and Mr. Wesley Johnson appeared before the Council, representing the firm of B. P. Denney, Architects. Mr. Johnson stated that the Maxey Museum restoration project was now ready for bids for foundation work, floor framing, plumbing, some exterior wall work, and site work, and recommended that bids be received on February 5, 1975 and presented to the City Council at its regular meeting on February 10, 1975. Assistant City Manager Greene made similar re- commendations in behalf of the staff of the City. A motion was made by Council- man Stone and seconded by Councilman Rainey that the recommendations be approved. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. Assistant City Manager Greene requested authorization to advertise for bids for microfilm equipment, including a Reader - Printer and camera for use in the police department with a 100% grant from the Criminal Justice Council, and for one Reader - Printer for use in the City Hall in administrative departments, and recom- mended that bids be received on February 5, 1975, tabulated. and presented to the City Council at its regular meeting on February 10, 1975. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman King that the request be granted. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
