37 <br />City Attorney Haynes advised that the petition had been withdrawn. Mayor Bru- <br />nette declared the Public Hearing closed on the matter. <br />City Manager Sweatt recommended that subdivision regulations pertaining to <br />requirement of curb and gutter be waived at this time on that portion of lots <br />facing on the old Jefferson Road, as shown on the preliminary plat of Meadow - <br />view Addition owned by Nathan Bell. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker <br />and seconded by Councilman Stone that the recommendation of the City Manager <br />be approved. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented petitions for re- zoning from property owners <br />of Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 14, City Block 171, Heavy Industrial District <br />to a Two Family Dwelling District. Mayor Brunette referred the petition to <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission for their study and recommendation and <br />called for a Public Hearing at the next Regular Council Meeting. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Stone that <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission be.requested to consider any classifica- <br />tion between 2 -F and Heavy Industrial for the above petition. The motion <br />carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />A motion was then made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman <br />King to instruct the Planning and Zoning Commission to review the entire <br />area for zoning considerations. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented petitions for re- zoning from Harold Dean Kirt- <br />ley, Lot 3 -A, City Block 318, from Agriculture to General Retail District; <br />and Nathan Bell, 2.908 acres of land, F. M. Highway 1507, from Commercial <br />District to a One Family Dwelling District. Mayor Brunette referred the pe- <br />titions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their study and recommen- <br />dations and called for a Public Hearing at the next Regular Council Meeting. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be considera- <br />tion of recommendation contained in minutes of the meeting of the Paris Traf- <br />fic Commission held on August 6, 1974. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council of the recommendation of the Traffic <br />Commission to change from one -way traffic to two -way traffic on West Kauf- <br />man Street, between 19th Street S. W. and 21st Street S. W. A motion was made <br />by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Moore that the recommendation <br />of the Traffic Commission be approved and that the City Attorney be instructed <br />to prepare an ordinance for the next regular Council Meeting. The motion <br />carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council of the recommendation of the Traffic <br />Commission to establish a no parking zone on 24th Street S. E., beginning at <br />Clark Lane and proceeding 120 feet South. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Stone that the recommendation of the <br />Traffic Commission be approved. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request from Mr. Allie O'Brien dba Yellow <br />Cab Company for an increase of 25t in the minimum base rate, from 75t to <br />$1.00 for the first 1/5 mile. After discussion, a motion was made by Coun- <br />cilman Hutchison and seconded by Councilman Moore to grant the request. The <br />motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 1625, appointing citizens of Paris and Lamar County to a City <br />of Paris and Lamar County Bicentennial Committee, was presented. Mrs. Fran - <br />cis Ellis and Mr. Pat Ryan appeared before the Council in behalf of the <br />American Revolution Bicentennial Commission goals and programs. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Stone that the Reso- <br />lution be adopted. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
