4 <br />City Manager Sweatt presented the Comprehensive Safety Plan as prepared by <br />the City Managerts Office of Traffic.Safety, and recommended its approval, <br />and requested authorization for filing with the Governor's Office. After <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Stone that the recommendation be approved and that the plan be <br />adopted as the City's Comprehensive Safety Plan. The motion carried: 7 <br />ayes, O nays. <br />Discussion was had on the recommendation of the Traffic Commission to pro- <br />hibit parking in the 1500 and 1600 Block of East Houston Street. After <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman <br />Stone that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance concern- <br />ing the No Parking restriction on East Houston.Street for presentation at <br />the next Regular Council Meeting. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 1613, authorizing the payment of $125,800.00 as the City's <br />portion of the estimated cost for improvements to Jefferson Road, was pre- <br />sented. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman <br />King that the Resolution be adopted. The motion carried: 7 ayes, O nays. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1613 <br />WHEREAS, the public convenience, safety and necessity of the <br />City of Paris and of the citizens of the City of Paris require that the <br />City Council of the City of Paris cooperate with the State of Texas in <br />every manner in which Farm to Market Highway routes within the City <br />of Paris. may be improved; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Department has agreed to make <br />certain improvements, including reconstruction and relocation of Farm <br />to Market Road No. 1507 from State Highway No. 19 East approxi- <br />mately 1. 6 miles; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is solely the City's responsibility, and the City <br />has requested the State to construct or have constructed concrete <br />curb and gutter, storm sewer work and incidental items within the <br />limits of such project, the estimated construction cost of which is .� <br />$125, 800. 00, including contingencies and construction engineering; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris must provide for the payment of <br />the herein described portion of the project in accordance with the <br />agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, That the Mayor of the City of Paris, James M. Brunette, D. D. S. , <br />be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf <br />of the City of Paris the agreement for construction of concrete <br />curb and gutter, storm sewer work and incidental items, including <br />contingencies and construction engineering, upon the terms and con- <br />ditions and in the form as shown in Exhibit A attached hereto. <br />Passed and adopted this 13th day of May, 1974. <br />ATTEST: <br />H.
