279 <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman <br />Whitaker for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried_ '7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that the First National Bank of Paris had <br />requested a franchise for operation of connector tube from the First National Bank <br />building to the proposed drive -in on the west end of the First National parking lot. <br />Franchise Ordinance No. <br />"AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO USE A PORTION OF THE SPACE UNDER THE <br />SURFACE OF THE SIDEWALK, PARKWAY AND STREET RIGHT OF WAY, BEGIN- <br />NING AT THE ORIGINAL NORTH WALL OF THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK. <br />BUILDING AND PROCEEDING NORTH IN SAID PARKWAY TO THE SOUTH BOUN- <br />DARY LIME OF WEST HOUSTON STREET AND CONTINUING NORTH ACROSS <br />SAID STREET TO A POINT 2 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH BOUNDARY LINE <br />OF 1,1EST HOUSTON STREET, FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING AND <br />MAINTAINING A SEVEN INCH (7") PNEUMATIC TUBE FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />CONNECTING THE MAIN BANKING HOUSE OF THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK <br />OF PARIS WITH ITS DRIVE -IN BANKING FACILITY; PROVIDING FOR A <br />TERM OF TWENTY -FIVE (25) YEARS; AND FIXING THE RENTAL THEREFOR." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Stone <br />the ordinance be approved on first reading.. Mayor Brunette polled the Council on <br />the notion which showed 6 ayes, 0 nays, Mayor Brunette abstaining. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested the Council to ratify his action on pre - application for <br />Community Development funds. <br />Resolution Pao. 1671, confirming and ratifying the action of the city manager in com- <br />pleting and executing pre - application for federal assistance, was presented.. A mo- <br />tion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman biâ–ºhitaker for adoption of <br />the resolution. The motion carried. 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
