Mayor Brunette expressed his appreciation to members of the Council and staff for their cooperation during the past year. Mayor Brunette presented the gavel of office to Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker and removed himself from the mayor's chair. Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker assumed his chair and requested City Judge Cedric Townsend to administer the Oath of Office to the newly elected Councilmen. City Judge Townsend administered the Oath of Office to Councilman Brunette, Councilman King, and Councilman Sterling. Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker expressed appreciation on behalf of the Council to Council- man Rainey for his service on the Council during the past four years. Mr. Rainey retired from the Council table, and Councilman, Brunette, Councilman King, and Councilman Sterling assumed their chairs at, the Council table. City Manager Sweatt presented a request from Mr. Don Nabors for water service outside the city limits on FM 1497. City Manager Sweatt recommended that the re- quest be granted, subject to the installation under the terms of the City Plumbing Code, meter set at the city limit line, and subject to double water rates. A mo- tion was made by Councilman Moore and seconded by Councilman King the recommenda- tion of the city manager be approved. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. Mr. Don Nicholson, president of Paris Rifle and Pistol Club, appeared before the Council requesting a site in the Lake Crook area for lease by his club, for the establishment of a National Rifle Association approved rifle and pistol range. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Council- man Hutchison that favorable consideration be given to a site in the Lake Crook area and that the request be referred to the city manager and staff for study and recommendation to the Council at a future Council Meeting.
