Mayor Brunette expressed his appreciation to members of the Council and staff for <br />their cooperation during the past year. Mayor Brunette presented the gavel of <br />office to Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker and removed himself from the mayor's chair. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker assumed his chair and requested City Judge Cedric Townsend <br />to administer the Oath of Office to the newly elected Councilmen. City Judge <br />Townsend administered the Oath of Office to Councilman Brunette, Councilman King, <br />and Councilman Sterling. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Whitaker expressed appreciation on behalf of the Council to Council- <br />man Rainey for his service on the Council during the past four years. <br />Mr. Rainey retired from the Council table, and Councilman, Brunette, Councilman <br />King, and Councilman Sterling assumed their chairs at, the Council table. <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request from Mr. Don Nabors for water service <br />outside the city limits on FM 1497. City Manager Sweatt recommended that the re- <br />quest be granted, subject to the installation under the terms of the City Plumbing <br />Code, meter set at the city limit line, and subject to double water rates. A mo- <br />tion was made by Councilman Moore and seconded by Councilman King the recommenda- <br />tion of the city manager be approved. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Don Nicholson, president of Paris Rifle and Pistol Club, appeared before the <br />Council requesting a site in the Lake Crook area for lease by his club, for the <br />establishment of a National Rifle Association approved rifle and pistol range. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Council- <br />man Hutchison that favorable consideration be given to a site in the Lake Crook <br />area and that the request be referred to the city manager and staff for study <br />and recommendation to the Council at a future Council Meeting.
