<br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be cons- ideration of
<br />recommendations made by the Traffic Commission at their regular meeting on January 7,
<br />1975. On the recommendation of the Traffic Commission that a "No Parking" zone be
<br />established on 24th S. E. on the east side from Gay Drive to Collegiate Street, a
<br />motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman. Stone that the re-
<br />commendation of the Traffic Commission be approved. The motion carried: 7 ayes,
<br />0 nays.
<br />The recommendation of the Traffic Commission to place a 15 minute time limit on
<br />Loading Zones was the next order of business. Mr. frank Bailey, Bailey Produce
<br />Company, appeared before the Council, stating that the 15 minute time limit would be
<br />insufficient for his particular type of business to load and unload vehicles. City
<br />Manager Sweatt recommended that action be tabled in order for the staff to make fur-
<br />ther study. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman
<br />Stone that the recommendation of the City Manager be approved. The motion carried:
<br />7 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on Tract No. 3, such public hearing
<br />being continued from the December 9, 1974 meeting to change from a Commercial Dis-
<br />trict to a One- Family Dwelling District, Lots 1 through 8, City Block 188 -C, and Lots
<br />2, 3, 3A, 4, 5, 5A, 5B, City Block 188 -D, located between 6th Street 'S. E. and 12th
<br />Street S. E., north of Old Jefferson Road.
<br />Mr.. Arch Hatch appeared before the Council, stating that his property was not suitable
<br />for one - family dwelling because of flooding conditions and requested his property
<br />consisting of approximately 10 acres remain commercial.
<br />Mr. Raymond Pomroy requested that Lots 1 and 2, Block 188 -C, remain commercial in
<br />that he had been operating a-store for a number of years and was presently doing so.
<br />Mr. Paul Horne, owner of Lot 8, Block 188 -C, requested that, his lot remain commercial.
<br />Mr. Warren Rhodes appeared before the Council in favor.of re-- zoning the area to resi-
<br />dential.
<br />Mr. Hardy Moore appeared before the Council representing M. T. Ha7bouty, stating that
<br />his. client had no objection to Mr. Pomroy's property remaining commercial. Mr.
<br />Moore stated that he was also representing Mr. M. J. Stewart, who was in favor of
<br />residential zoning.
<br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and reminded the Council the re-
<br />commendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission which recommended that Lots 1
<br />and 2 owned by Mr. Pomroy remain commercial and the rest be re -zoned single family
<br />residence.
