r .184 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 20, 1975 <br />A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on January 20, 1975 at 5:15 P. M. <br />Mayor J. M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: Doyle Whitaker, Joe King, Brad Hutchison, W. M. (Dub) Moore, and Sam M. <br />Stone. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and <br />City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Mayro Brunette advised that the purpose of the special Council Meeting was to con- <br />sider an FAA grant offer for airport improvements and to consider award of a con- <br />tract for airport improvements. •. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that as of this date, no grant offer had <br />been received from FAA. City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that bids were <br />received on November 20, 1974 for the north -south runway extension and related <br />improvements, as follows: <br />CONTRACTOR BASE BID ALTERNATE A <br />Buster Construction Company 494,311.30 34,381.18 <br />Crookham & Vessels, Inc. 438,071.82 28,258.44 <br />McKnight Construction Co. 719,235.96 - 53,678.70 <br />Mr. Carroll Finklea, representing consulting engineers, Shimek, Roming, Jacobs & <br />Finklea, appeared before the Council, stating that the specifications for sub -base <br />on the runways could be amended and the turn - arounds and drainage pipe under the <br />runway could be eliminated, bringing the project into funding amounts. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the total project estimated cost was $413,800.00 with <br />the grant hopefully being provided from FAA in the amount of $310,350.00, a grant <br />from the Texas Aeronautical Commission in the amount of $50,000.00, with the City <br />providing $53,450.00 and funding of additional non - participating items of an ad- <br />ditional $4,250.00. <br />Resolution No. 1658, awarding the contract for improvements at Cox Field to Crook - <br />ham & Vessels, Inc. and authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract in behalf of <br />the City of Paris in the amount of $336,839.25 (base bid less modifications), was <br />presented. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman <br />King that the resolution be adopted. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
