71 City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for traffic signal material for construction of a signal at the intersection of 27th /30th Street and Clarksville Street, such bids to be received at 10:00 A. M. on May 5, 1976, tabu - lated,'and presented to the City Council at its. regular meeting on May 10, 1976. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Rainey to ap- prove the request of the city manager. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for window co- verings for the Municipal Building, such.bids to be.received until 10:00 A. M. on May 5, 1976, tabulated, and presented to the City Council at its regular meeting on May.10, 1976. .,A motion was.made by Councilman Moore and seconded by Councilman Rainey to approve the .request of the city manager. The motion carried: 7 ayes,. 0 nays. City Manager Sweatt presented a., request from. Mr.. Cloyd.Scroggins for water service outside the City limits in the "gray area" to be served-by the Lamar County Water Corporation, such connection to be on Highway 82 approximately 2600 feet east of the present City limits. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Stone to approve the request subject to standard requirements. The mo- .tion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Ordinance No. 2283: "AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THREE MEMBERS TO THE EQUALIZATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO SERVE FOR THE CURRENT TAXABLE YEAR, ESTABLISHING THE TIME FOR THE FIRST MEETING OF THE EQUALIZATION BOARD, ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF PAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD, AND' PROVIDING'FOR AN EF- FECTIVE DATE." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Ster .ling for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Sweatt presented a request from the Kiwanis Club to change the dates for use of the Market Square from April 27 - May 1, 1976 to May 17 - May 22, 1976. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Sterling to ap- prove the request. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette announced that the next meeting of the City Council would be on Wednesday, April 14, 1976 to canvass the returns of the election held on April 3, 1976.
